So....bit the bullet and purchased a new Whaly 270 rotomolded dinghy (from the Netherlands). I have seen them as work boats and daily use tenders and I was impressed as to the stability, ruggedness and compact size.

I purchased some 1" thick King Starboard to make custom fitting davit arms for the bottom and I reused the Weaver Davit stainless steel plates bolted on the swim platform. Even though the dinghy weighs 150lbs, I can easily slide it up out of the water onto the tilting davit arms. Plenty of room to wiggle around it and it will be secured with stainless steel ratcheting straps that I just ordered. The davit arms do not stick out past the side of the dinghy.

You will also note I have a fixed outboard motor mount attached to the boat transom and this is where I carry my 4hp Honda.

I liked the Achilles Inflatable I used to have but this is a better dinghy for me when cruising.

It fits like a glove on my 2000 SR380DA.

I ordered it in "Dutch Orange" as an extra safety factor if I have to abandon ship. Color is UV stabilized and will not fade.

Pretty cool... I like it.

that is very cool, ive never come across a fully rigid other than the old school walker bay. Thanks for helping me expand our search this off-season!

I looked at the Polycraft but at almost $7,000 versus $2,500 for the Whaly it was a no brainer.
The Polycraft 300 is also 238lbs empty which is way more than what I want to try to slide on to the swim platform.

That is cool. (Color is not for me, but I understand your reasoning) I have a two person sit on kayak that is rotomolded. I just bought some SeaDeck (fake) to make it less slippery for the dog that comes with me. It sticks well in case you want to do something to reduce the slip on the floor and seats. Its light too so doesn’t add weight.

What did you use for glue?....did you have to scruff the surface before application?
I have some left over Lewmar Treadmaster from another project that I might use but I can only see 5200 as a type of adhesive
Thx

The roll I bought on Amazon had 3M adhesive tape on the back. It seems to adhere well to the polypropylene. I did not scuff. I just scrubbed it with methyl alcohol and a rag. Time will tell but it’s been on all summer with no lifting.

I looked at the Polycraft when looking for my first tender. One thing I noticed was the weight capacity was down compared to traditional inflatable.
