NY Newspaper Creates Interactive Map Of Gun Permit Holders.

Now the original paper is doubling down and publishing more names...

"Following the shooting in Newtown, CT a suburban New York newspaper sparked quite an uproar among gun enthusiasts by publishing names and addresses of residents who held pistol permits. Now this same newspaper is looking to publish even more names.More names and addresses will bed added to a map that was originally posted on Christmas Eve in the Journal News from White Plains, NY. The first map listed thousands of pistol permit holders in Westchester and Rockland county, which are just north of New York City."

More proof.......you can't fix stupid! You DID notice, they waited for government offices to be closed for the holidays and the office they went to for the updated list is stalling for somebody else to take charge of this problem. Also note, as Va owners, we stepped up and forced the paper not to post our names, and pressured our govrnment to pass a law to keep this from happening here ever again!

Convenient isn't it....

I had to laugh when I saw this, the guards they hired were for only two days and the news group reported it was only till tomorrow. So if someone wanted to make good on their remarks to the paper they only need to wait two days. Also the two armed guards have CWP's but aren't on the lists. Again, you can't fix stupid.

And just where are all these people that wanted to know who has and don't have a permit? Why haven't we heard from any of them, and just what good does it do to know?

I'm amazed at the irony here---they don't like guns so they publish the names/addresses of gun permit holders, but when the feathers hit the fan they hire armed guards for protection.

RE dwna1a's question......"And just where are all these people that wanted to know who has and don't have a permit? Why haven't we heard from any of them, and just what good does it do to know?".....was there ever anyone who wanted to know that information, or was the newspaper just doing it to stir things up?????

First the only one that benifits from knowing this information are those who are not rational and those who are criminal in nature. Now they have a shopping list of where to break in and get any potential guns that maybe in the location.

Maybe they should also publish where all judges and law enforcement live. That would stir things up a tad too. As far as where gun owners live. The LAST place any bad guy would want to go is the home of a gun owner... If I were a bad guy, that map would tell me I am safe to rip off the neighbor without a gun.

JMHO... Bad Guys love easy access to easy targets. a non-gun owner is an easy target...

That nut that shot the firemen in NY previously killed his grandmother with a hammer. Our system let him out...gee, you think killing granny with a hammer might have been a hint that he wasn't right in the noggin. Well anyway, maybe when this paper is done with guns they'll publish the name of all hammer owners. They're a dangerous weapon you know and anyone can buy one, even at yard sales where no record is kept.

My wife just brought up a good point, these two people stole the guns they used to commit these crimes. They stole the from people that own the guns legally. If I lived up there and my home was broken into and my guns stolen. I'd have the newspaper reporter and editor charged with accessory to robbery. They to should be held accountable

I understand that the newspaper that published this has received such a large volume of negative feed back and have had to.... wait for it, HIRE ARMED GUARDS TO PROTECT THEM.

I saw last night on Fox News, O'Reilly and Hannity both had stories on this. The pressure is building..........

I have to admit.....I did send them an email asking if they were sure to post the guards names, phone numbers, home addresses, to see if they were on the lists. I didn't want to see favoritism shown to the new employees
