NY Newspaper Creates Interactive Map Of Gun Permit Holders.

I think only criminals should have to register their guns... In fact I would go so far to say I don't think criminal should be able to own guns... Now if we only had a map of the criminals who have guns.

I'd like to know what the hell's business it is that anyone knows who owns a gun. What possible gain is there in publishing the names and addresses of gun owners? What public service does that provide other than otherwise intimidate law abiding citizens. IMHO, the folks at the newspaper responsible are doing it solely as a anti-gun agenda and I find it offensive. This will not stand, ya know, this aggression will not stand, man.

A well said quote...

I understand and agree with registering guns, but why does that information need to be public in the first place?

The whole situation is EXACTLY what is wrong with registration of guns at all, WHO THE HELLS BUSINESS IS IT???

If it is legal and you pass the background check there is no need for registration. Some say well then when someone is incompetent we will know if they have guns. Few are so out of it to register their guns to put out so many law abiding citizens.

Today the last county denied the freedom of information request for all those who have CWP.

Which county turned them down? They deserve a large job well done!

Now this one I like

Well this was a poor newspaper and by publishing this list it generated a lot of revenue for the company. In NY State that information is considered public information. In CT Gun permit owners is not considered public information and cannot be divulged.

The guns and law abiding citizens ownership of them are being used to take down the 2nd amendment. I think we all see that as the agenda. What I find interesting is, do the newspaper owners and staff not realize they will be next? With the right to protect yourself gone, all other RIGHTS outlined by the Bill of Rights become voided.Guns/gun ownership is just the move of a pawn which could lead to the loss of the game (America). IMHO. +3 with the post before mine: Lets first get the criminals to register theirs.

Just makes it easier for police to know which doors to knock on when they want to confiscate weapons like they did during Katrina.

From JAMES TARANTO of the Wall Street Journal:

"One further follow-up on the controversy over the gun-permit database posted by the Gannett-owned Journal News of White Plains, N.Y., comes from reader Chris Cummins:
If you look at the map carefully at the neighborhood level, they used a version of Google Maps to plot the locations of pistol permitees, but many of the plots are wrong. In my vicinity, I have identified at least three addresses that are incorrectly positioned. This is a serious journalistic error. It exposes those without guns to robbers who expect to find guns in their houses and will likely be more aggressive as they expect (based on the LoHud.com maps) the residents to be armed. In addition, it puts robbers at potential risk of entering a house expecting no weapons and getting justifiably confronted with a weapon."

A good story about a homeowner with a gun...

Georgia mom home alone with kids shoots ex-con intruder
Published January 06, 2013
FoxNews.com

A Georgia mother shot an ex-convict six times to protect her and her children after he apparently forced his way into the family’s home.
The mom heard knocks on her front door Friday and assumed it was just a solicitor, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
She told her 9-year-old twins not to answer the door and, when the visitor began repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she called her husband at his job and he told her to gather the children and hide.

According to the Journal-Constitution, the father then dialed 911 and his wife, who works from a home office, hid with the children in a crawlspace.
By that time, according to the paper, the intruder had used a crowbar to forcibly enter the home, and made his way to the home office.
“He opens the closet door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver,” Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The woman fired six bullets, five of which hit Paul Ali Slater in the face and neck area, Chapman said. But Slater, who has arrests dating to 2008 and was released from jail in August, was still conscious.
“The guy’s face down, crying,” the sheriff said. The woman told him to stay down or she’d shoot again.
While down, the woman and her children ran to a neighbor’s house, and the injured intruder made it out of the home and into his car, the paper reported.
Authorities found Slater a short time later bleeding profusely in a neighbor’s driveway.
“I’m dying. Help me,” he told them, according to Chapman.
Slater was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and is expected to survive, the sheriff said.

"When seconds count, and the police are just minutes away, can you protect your family?"

Stories such as these happen every day in every state in the nation.

Yes these stories do happen daily but never receive the attention of the press or acknowledged by the anti-gun movement of our government. If they did acknowledge it, they would not be able to continue the agenda to disarm America so they can have complete control over the people.

For those who think that since I teenage girls in the house I shouldn't have guns around. Both of my girls, 15yo and 17yo, have taken firearm safety classes. Both qualify to get and have a CWP as soon as they are old enough to do so. Even my wife qualifies! We aren't the "Jonnie come lately" to handguns. If you are one of those, go to classes, know and understand your handguns. Know how to take them apart, clean, and maintain it. Don't rush to buy the first one you see, do your homework, and skip the gun shows until you have a greater knowledge. Go to a dealer, one that has an indoor range is best. Shoot it often, it does no good to be scared to shoot it. Find one that fits you, don't go buy a .45 because you saw it on TV, for some it is way to powerful and they can't control it.
