bill; its a 2000 with the center galley lay out. not the salon seat

we have made the back birth into a permanent bed also. i took the runners off the center slide out section so it will set level with the other cushions and the we got a double bed mattress cover, memory foam 11/2 thick, like our vee birth.

VERY VERY NICE......:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I love it Garryowen! I too think the boat is the biggest 31 around. Some other big likes to me are the cabin layout, exceptional ride and handling, and aesthetics. I think there is a little more in those 454's. What gears are you running and what is your WOT?

Also, Great Lakes seems to be telling everybody they did not make the camper canvas, but mine has their tags all over it. Go figure.
we had the number off the tag on ours now, but thats for the the slant back one. they can make us one but we wanted one with the square back and extra set of bows at the transom, like in your sig pict keokie. thats the one they cant come up with.
they are sending us the zipper velcro strips. they were sun rotted on ours. the ones front and back of the spoiler. $250 i think for both

i'm going out on a limb and guess 2.0 drives to be able to pull the 26 pitch props at 1000 ft elevation
when i got it we had the marina pull the drives and install all new rubber and lower shift cables. they were supposed to get the drive ratio for me but forgot before going back in the water. we also had new duckbill valves installed in the vacu flush and new impellers in genset and motors so should be good to go. has 130 hr on motors and 250 on genset

Garry...
Excuse my ignorance but do you have I/O 's ???
I have inboards and remember when looking at my boat in dry dock it looked different in the back....
maybe i'm wrong....

yes- bravo 3's.
v drives would be nice but as much trailering as we do i wanted the I/O for clearance ect.

To answer the RPM question, we had ours out on Friday. I found that 3200 - 3400 is a good cruise - about 19 MPH, I wanted to see what we could do. I went up to about 4500 which brought us to between 29 and 30 MPH. It was great. The bow came down and the cruise was wonderful.

I tried making a u-turn at this speed and found it was a really, really wide turn and took some hard turning of the wheel but the boat handles great.

Now I go back to I have to find a way to raise the helm seat higher.

Hey hey hey....

Nice huh??? We went out friday but bay was very choppy, not a good ride.... but better days are ahead...

Hello all. Just took delivery this weekend and had a question:

Vacuum pump on head cycles every five min or so. Seems excessive to me. What should I expect?

Also, the bottom paint is shot per the surveyor, but a hydrohoist was included in the sale. I would like to put off the bottom paint until next year but it would also be nice to leave it in the water all summer. Would love to hear the group's thoughts on this.

Thanks in advance. :smt001

You mean it flushes every five minutes??? with out stepping on the lever???

david; i talked to you at dock the day you were getting your survey.

most likely the duckbill valves are leaking by, allowing the vacuum to leak off and causing the vacuum pump to cycle.
you can still use your head just dont leave it on all the time. turn it on let it pump up, use flush and shut off. till you get it fixed

get ahold of bruce there and have him take care of you. we had ours done just after we got the boat and there not to expensive to repair. they have the gauges and all the stuff to work on them. good guys as far as gerry and i are concerned

you saw our boat. we don't bottom paint at all.
you need to use the hydro hoist any way as the docks are not made to support the weight of the hoist hanging on them and after a while they will ask to raise it to take the weight off the fingers.

i see you have v-drives. i know the day we talked you wernt sure what drives or motors you had and was checking.

Battery Gauges ...

I have found that when we are running, our battery gauges (at the helm) are showing almost 15 volts. Before I start to look into alternator issues .... has anyone else found this?

Also, I have found that if you sit by the gas tank on the starboard side of the boat, after being out and getting back to the dock, I can smell gas. There is no leak and the smell does go away but has anyone else found this?

Thanks.

Have not noticed the battery gauges, but will take a look thursday,

The only fumes my wife smelled where when we were under way and the fumes from the engines were getting to her as she sat on the aft bench...
We were told to open the windshield vent next time we're out and it would dissipate....
We did, and it did....

My voltage gauges show the same. I bet that if you put a digital voltmeter on the batteries you would find 14.3-14.7volts which is within the limits. The dash gauges just aren't that accurate. No fumes on ours and I was laying on the aft bench seat this past sunday while my buddy was driving and we were moving 22+knots. Check your vent piping from that fuel tank.

Thanks!

billnpat - We had the same issue with the exhaust but really only the first time we used the boat this season. After that it seemed to go away, but I will definitely keep the vent window in mind.

capecodcruiser - Thanks. I'll check the vent line this weekend.

Do yourself a favor and get the dry joint exhaust installed a.s.a.p. This model always has water injestion issues and this is the only fix. I've repowered each motor...prior to the new exhaust.

Hi Fellow 310'ers.

The admiral and I are really enjoying our 310.. It's a great performer (42+ mph) and as noted above, has a very large cabin for a 31'.

I'm wondering if anyone has purchased (or had made) a pad for the starboard bench (where the storage cubby is)? I looked online and via search here but no luck.

TIA,
Chris

Yeah, that's what my wife brought home last night.. I was trying to avoid the hassle of stowing them every time we get moving.

I might have one made by the folks that took the puffyness out of our cabin cushions.

(can't wait to get the price on that :wow:)

Thanks
