I'm not sure what I did wrong...did't mean to post all these photos.

I currently have a 1995 330 Sundancer and we love the boat. I have two kids and will eventually wanna get a bigger boat with two staterooms. The 400 EC appeals to me because of how the cockpit is laid out, good performance with gas engines and they can be had for under $100K. I am looking at this boat this weekend just to get an idea if I would like the layout. I think it is overpriced as I believe it has been for sale for a couple years. Other than the windows leaking (can this be fixed permanently?) anything else to look out for?

Thanks!

I'm not crazy about the Quicksilver genny. Also the raw water cooling but your in fresh water so not a huge deal.

Did it today...Veem Conquest 4 blade Bronze props......should have them in a week or so....will write a report after I have them put on.....Jon

My opinion here but you want to target years 1997 - 1998 for the helm clearance and updated styling for that kind of money. The older ones should sell for significantly less than the listing you provided.

Most of those older boats need to be updated....interior ...I just remodeled the interior of my 96...…..if you shoot for 96 on up you will find plenty of 7.4MPI fuel injected engines as well. The price as listed seems a bit high for that year. I think 93 was first year production on the 400?

Good point. The 97/98's also come with the Horizon 380HP 454's. I don't believe they were offered prior to that. My memory is a little vague but I did plenty of research on them last year. Had an offer on one that ultimately failed survey for a wet stringer on the port side.

I think you are correct on the engines...mine are 340 MPIs, first year for them I think. 1996. The 380s also feature closed cooling. Later boats have westerbeak gen sets as I think the mercruiser units were out of production by then.

Sweet spot on my boat is 32-33 hundred at 20-21MPH....with supplied 20X21 3 blade props. Moving up to 4 blade Veem props in a week or two. Looking for idle maneuvering improvements and mid range RPM/Speed. 4400 is WOT and I am never there..

wet stringer..wow..haven't heard too much about wet stringers and transoms on the 400s...unfortunate.

Yeah, it was a bummer. The surveyor actually glanced over it. I grabbed his sounding hammer and went to town on an area that I thought sounded suspect. I narrowed it down to a 3' long area. Sure enough we test drilled a small hole and the wood was wet. I stuck a small awl in there and it went right through with little effort. The salesman didn't seem shocked at all after we told him. In fact I'm confident he knew exactly what he was selling and luckily I was fortunate enough to find it.

I went and looked at that 1993 400 EC with my wife......wow this will be our next boat (not this exact one). We love love the HUGE cockpit and layout of the cabin. Now I just need to find a clean one 1997-1998 near Minnesota :)
