The pressurized water pump for the galley and head sink runs properly and holds great pressure but after it shuts off every 1-2 minutes goes " brrrrrt will hold system pressure for about 12 hrs when turned off and carries good volume took forever to get all the air out of the lines when flushing the system out though.. bad pump ... pressure sensor ??? No leaks on the pressure side I can find. Ideas ?

Yea, so that's about it... either a leak or bad pressure switch in the pump. I would bet a leak somewhere. If you don't see it in a faucet or toilet, then probably a connection hidden somewhere.

I looked everywhere and found a leak very small was getting the carpet under the vanity wet. It was so small I never felt the carpet getting wet but we found the smell and I'm going to rip it out this weekend. Already fixed the leak in a whale fitting. Bought the part from freshwater systems I think it's called.

Good to see you posting Jim, seems like it's been a while.
I had the exact same issue. I know that sound by heart.

Remember, a "leak" can be an air leak too. If you are somehow sucking a small amount of air into the system and it finds it's way back to the pump, you may never see water anywhere. I don't know how much access you have but checking every single fitting may be the only way to find the culprit. You may be able to isolate the problem if you have multiple lines leaving the pump or a manifold if you have one.

There is an adjustment on the pump but I don't think that is what you need. I think I paid $80 for a new pump if you have to go that route. Out of interest I took the old one apart, pretty complex for a water pump if you ask me, so any idea of a repair is out as the parts may cost half of a new one.

You may be onto something with the air leak.
It took forever to get all of the air out of the system ... pump cavitated alot with water running.. I saw a tiny trickle of fresh water coming out from under the battery bank on the stb side last fall bit not this year so far... and the fresh water tank is just forward of that. I really think if there is a leak It will be on the intake side of the pump rather than the pressure side.
And thanks for missing me... been reading bit not posting much.
work got too busy to get on regularly since we opened the New shop.

There is a leak somewhere. It is surprising how little volume it takes to lower the system pressure to the point where the pump cycles on. One typical place on EC's and DA's is the water connection on a cabinet mounted ice maker. The leak dribbles behind the cabinet, well out of sight, then runs into the hatch gutter drain and evaporates before it becomes visible or drips into the bilge sump.

Another possible cause is the head on the pump itself. Those simple things are remarkably complicated and it is quite possible that an internal check valve is leaking from the pressure side back into your water tank thus making the leak invisible. Try putting a low pressure gauge on the hose spigot in the cockpit and watch to see if it falls.

the only things on my system are the galley and head faucets and the water heater
the head is fresh water draw,, electric flush... I wondered about an internal leak in the pump too... sorry Frank, I misread your post before this edit...... good info as always. Thanks

Had the same thing going on for the last few weeks, then the water heater let go last week.
