I know some people say it's tacky to put a name on a small boat, but it's my boat, I wanted to name it, so I did!!! Yesterday I did the boat naming ceremony and applied the new name! I like it!!

Workin' yep that is what we have tell people. This boat'n is a lot of work.

Here's our Whaler that we have in WA. The one in AZ is named "Sunny Beach" but I don't have a pic of it.

I remember when I kept our 42 foot Aft Cabin (Carver), at a big marina, where all kinds of boats came and went, the guys on our dock, where the max LOA was right around what we had, those guys would laugh at and make fun of the guys with 18-24 foot (some bigger, some smaller, but you get the idea) boaters who had put a name on their boat. I considered that laughing pathetic and childish, and often wondered how THEY would feel if they heard some of the comments undoubtedly made about "us" by the guys on their 100 foot plus (some WAY "plus") motor yachts that would dock there, a couple with helicopters on their boat.

Of course, maybe THOSE guys, the ones in the multi-million dollar mega-yachts, had more class than the guys whose boats often had a dollar value, in spite of their size, less than my car. (And I'm NOT bragging, my car is no big deal.)

Anyway.......I think if you want to name your boat, name your boat! As a guy who rode a Harley almost all my life, I could never abide by the riders (I won't call them "bikers", because a real biker wouldn't make fun of the badge on a guy's bike.), when they would make fun of guys riding Hondas, Yamahas, etc. To me, if you rode, it didn't matter what badge was on your tank.

Same thing for boats. Doesn't matter if you have a 10 footer or a 100 footer.....you enjoy being on the water? You're a boater, IMHO. And you want to name your boat? Name your boat! Who cares what anybody else thinks??

I don't see anything wrong with naming any size boat, even a canoe. If it has meaning to you, that's what matters.

I certainly don't think anyone would think twice about it unless they have an inferiority complex.

I don't even poke fun at Bayliners anymore since their quality and styling have gone through the roof over the last 10 years. Anything pre 2005 is still a target though. And they are still a poor man's Sea Ray.
