WTF is wrong with these people !!

I'm sitting here alone because 3 young azzwipes called in sick.
I'll bet they were at the beach or a party yesterday. :smt021

She went in at 11pm to 7am shift to take up the slack for these lazy azz slackers. :smt013

She's 55 and is working circles around them worthless pieces of sh*t.

I say punch the parents in the head for raising lazy/irresponsible lazy bastards. .

I was wondering why you were up at 3:30 in the morning. I couldn't sleep - too much thinking about boating tomorrow.

I took a nap with her before she went in. :smt001

I'm wide awake with nothing to do and pizzed off. :smt021

Bill, Have fun and be SAFE out there.

Define young adult? 18, 25, 35?

But yeah, lack of work ethic is a big issue for most people in this country, regardless of age. I'm sitting here working a double shift in order to enjoy a weekend of boating. Very much worth it. :)

Yeah, 18 - 25 can be a tough age to get any hint of reliability out of. I will say try to remember what you were like back then, and if they are close to or at minimum wage good luck getting good workers on a nice summer evening. I was the exception at that age, working 60+ hours a week right out of high school and NEVER calling in sick, but then again I didnt have much of a social life due to it. I did have 2 paid off cars and a house by 25 though, so there's that.

And Tim Hortons >>>> McD

I will say try to remember what you were like back then,

I picked rocks out of the field for $3 a day = 12hr days.

Dee's workplace pays $10 for the first 3 months and then it goes to $14 if you earn it.

These F'IN retards are still hoping that Mom & Dad's money with pull them thru in life. :smt021

Yeah thats a solid wage for sure, so no excuse there. Not sure how old you are, but if you're in your 40's or 50's its your generations fault for raising a bunch of self-important hipsters that only care about energy drinks and their FB status. So good job there.

I did that, picked rocks out of sugar cane paddocks at 14.

You would hate what we pay here, for much the same results! An 18yo now working as a storeman, picker and packer, is on minimum of $17 ph and a 38 hour week...

Yep... worthless IMHO... a few good ones are out there but many in the health field are rubbish. Enjoy breakfast.

I must of done something right, Becca 17yo is working two jobs Caitlin is waiting tables doing double shifts for her collage spending money and her books.

I still can't find help...good help. I don't know why folks don't want to work, we start folks at $10 then move them up after 30 days. My last person was the best she ended at $20. She was 45+yo and would work many others under the table. Maybe it's the work I do I don't know.

Well, I got my Micky D's pancakes with double sausage.:smt038

Dee said quit b*tch'in about it to your creepy internet friends.

She is sleeping like a baby as I type this.

I thought we would go for scoot ride but I don't see that happening. :smt021

I've worked hard much of my life and it got me to where I am. I am about to retire comfortably but for the last 5 years I have worked my hardest and received a 1% raise over that time. False promises and broken agreements. Also Congress and the President screwed me. I have fallen short of my earnings goals.

Sometimes I wonder if the less is more the way to go. Enjoy life not your job.

Mike, I came to that conclution back in 97, took all the savings in the state retirement program and bought metals as my retirement money. I've only had one goal in mind, once all loans are paid off, then I get to slow down a bit. Till then I work six days a week with only one more loan to pay off (house & land). Wife works 5 to 7 days a week, hasn't seen a raise in 5 years but she loves to teach and was never there for the money. Seems these days folks are there for the money and at times I do understand why. I couldn't go back to working for someone ever again. This new rush to raise the min wage is going to kill small companies but I think that's what it's meant to do, killing the small guys only brings more cash to the big ones. The mom and pop stores and shops will be history leaving only the big box stores.

I understand it's easy to be pissed in the moment, but It's unfair to group all in the same age group as lazy or "retards" (totally unnecessary) It would be the same as those of us over 50 being group as old foagies.

I manage a lot of people in this age group. I don't have issues with them not showing up, calling in sick or not performing. But I can say that this new breed of worker has a completely different set of life priorities. that applies to all. And you know what? It's my generation's fault. Sports leagues where nobody keeps score, no failing in school, helicopter parents...really what do we expect?

i had a couple of extremely high performers in a morning show. These 2, who worked with me for 7 years and just turned 30, outperformed propel twice their age. Big ratings, community involvement and great team members. They were recruited into a big market essentially because they got more holidays with an allowance for vacation. Time off was always a big important issue with them.

Anyway, thats my experience.

Mark

I'm 28 and have a 33' boat. Ending up having to spend my Saturday working, I hate to say it but I'm the exception to the rule in my generation. A good work ethic is rare these days.

My daughter is 18 years, freshman in college with a 3.4GPA. She works 30 hours a week as a hostess at a fine dining restaurant. Don't make generalizations about all young adults. Plenty of them are pulling their weight.

I'm a bit inclined to agree. Many years ago I learned a phrase that has had many applications in my life....
"What we allow, we ultimately teach."

Yes, there are many self-absorbed 'kids' today, but my belief is they are the product of parents who wanted to give their kids a better life than they had. They gave them the expensive toys and just about anything else they wanted. They didn't make the kids work for things and many of those kids now have no appreciation for how much work it takes to be successful. They allowed the kids to just sit on their arses, do nothing except hold their hands out and be given the fruits of someone else's labors. So that was what the kids learned and that is the work ethic they developed.

Like many on here, I got my first job at 15 and have worked one or two jobs at a time to get where I am. Unlike many on here, I left home at 15 and had to work to make it. I guess maybe because I was too young and dumb to know better, but the thought of NOT going to college never entered my mind. Vietnam interrupted that goal and I spent 7.5 years as a guest worker for Uncle Sam, but still continued with at least one part time job the whole time I was in the USAF. Now, after working 50+ years I am able to retire and enjoy the fruits of my labors.

And I love it.

Well, Guess who called in sick again !!!. :smt013
Yep, The same 3 lazy bastards that called in yesterday. :smt021

Come Monday there will be 3 openings at her workplace. :smt038
