Rant/Suicide note from Pilot that crashed plane in Austin

You know if you think about it this is another case of Americans committing acts of terrorism against Government facilities, remember Oklahoma City. It would seem like another case of Citizen Joe revolting against what they see as obsession from their own government. Remember the 1700’s, “Taxation without representation”? Old King George would come up with a tax for this and a tax for that. Is that not what we have now? Our elected officials are not listening. I think it is time to wake up, the natives are restless.

Reading what he wrote - he does'nt seem to be a wacko that is typified by "extremist" views - but he states his case and then he crosses that extrnemist line and does the unthinkable (not different then the recent shooting in Alabama). But when you consider the large number of congressmen that are bailing out of DC maybe he hit the nail on the head.

I wouldn't characterize this as terrorism, it's more like a criminal act.

Reading his rant the guy strikes me more as being at the end of his rope verses being crazy.

Ditto:thumbsup:, and what is scary there is a bunch of people at the end of their rope. Very interesting time we are living in:huh:

Would not committing a violent act against innocent people while protesting the actions of a government or government agency be considered Terrorism? I would think that would be the definition of Terrorism.

Is every mass murderer a terrorist?

For it to be terrorism wouldn't the act need to cause widespread fear to accomplish a political goal? The perpetrators would be motivated by ideological reasons and the targets would be innocent non-combatants.

One could argue that the guy was motivated by ideological reasons for sure.

To me this is not terrorism. Terrorism is the Ft. Hood shooter or the Muslim killing the soldier in the recruiting center in Little Rock.

I would only hope that by striking a nerve that stimulates the inevitable double standard, knee-jerk government reaction that results in more stupid draconian restrictions people wake up and begin to see the pompous political thugs and their mindless minions for what they are.

I was listening to the news last night, and they were discussing the need to put tighter controls on civil aviation because "any crazy person person with a plane could do this". This part of his rant may prove to be prophetic...

I could argue the point, but I’m all argued out for the week…. You win; he was a “nut job”

How about the comment (paraphrase) 'I didn't make any income, so I didn't file a return'. Are you kidding me? The IRS already tells you point blank you better fill one out or they're coming after you.

I don't believe you do need to file a tax return if you are under a certain income level. My grandmother was not required the last decade of her life and my mother hasn't filed either. Both were on social security only. I dont know if this guy was a wacko or not. His actions indicate the former but his thought process in the body of the letter, at least to me, tends to indicate the latter.

That is incorrect. Not everyone has to file. Filing status, age and income determines the filing requirement.

We'll probably never know, but I'll go out on a limb and say that his problems with the IRS that started in the 80's came about because he and a group of friends tried to claim they were a church (non-profit) and thus they didn't have to pay taxes on their income. The IRS smacked him down and he was hit with a $40k penalty. Now that he was on the IRS' radar, they probably looked at his returns very closely and generally made his life miserable for any hint of an infraction.

yea, figures they would. That will just fix everything! More controls, more restrictions on the American people, yeah.

Yeah, the government should take away our guns and planes, so we don't hurt ourselves. Probably boats, cars, and matches too.

I don't believe he was a nut job. Everyone has their tipping point. He was pushed over.
