Replacement seals on prop shaft on a 38 sundancer

Hay guys i need to replace the seals on my prop shafts, And i heard the original seals that sea ray puts on their shafts are not that good,And they make a improvement kit that fixes the faulty original seal.
Does anyone have any knowledge about this.

If your seals are original, you have gotten 10 years out of them, which is very good. Tides changed the type of plastic used in the seal housings as well as the blue hose several years ago. The new housing does seem to last longer. When you order new seal kits, you will get the new housing and hose. It is probably worth buying the complete kit rather than just the seal housing if you have the old design.

Here is a photo of the new seal design. Look at the blue hose….if yours has a hump in the middle (convoluted section) you already have the new one and you just need to replace the seal itself.

In that the shaft has to be removed to do the replacement, you may want to place an extra seal or 2 on each shaft. If anything goes wrong or time wears them down, the replacement can be done in the water. The seals are in a preservation container. I believe one extra comes with each kit.

Nope gotta buy it but a wise and no-brainer investment. As the shafts and props need to come off and in as much it's been 10 years might as well do the cutless bearings.
