Looking for some methods to get rid of the rust/clean up the nuts and bolts and stop it form coming back. I search around CSR and found some preventive stuff people talk about like Boeshield, Corrosion X, and WD-40.

My plan was to wire brush them the best that I can to remove the rust, but what can be used to spray/bush on to spot that are not removed by the wire brush or can't be reach well enough? I am not sure about using Rust Free Corrosion Remover, because of the cautions on their web site. Anyone use this product or recommend another one?

After a good cleaning the part that were black I was going to repaint. Should so type of primer be used first?

For the other non-painted surfaces I take it that you would then just spray something like Boeshield or Corrosion X on them.

When something like Boeshield or Corrosion X was sprayed on painted surfaces what is used to clean the surface if it need to be touched up with paint?

I'd say your first step is to dry up the bilge. The surface rust I see would tend to indicate that there is some water standing in the bilge somewhere. Are your shaft seals leaking? Sea strainer lids tight? etc.

A good cleaning with a wire brush then any of the products you mentioned that will barrier coat the plated metals will do........

I would clean it up with a stainles brush and spray the part you want painted with rustoleum Ind. then spray with corrosionx HD comes in a green can part #90104. the product does not have a strong oder like the red can of corrisonx. i sprayed most my major elec. connections starters , batteries. I have used it for years repairing heavy Equipment and has saved me long term grief. A great place to pick this product up is Fastenal i am sure one is not to far from you
