We are considering a move that would put us in the Sacramento area. What are good options for weekend boating? We have a 310 DA that I would like to bring with, but with IOs itll have to stay freshwater. We really like the boat and dont want to downsize.

We like 2 day trips, exploring different beaching spots, restaurants, etc.

Folsom area looks decent for our likings/affordability/schools. Looks like Folsom lake is interesting. Any other suggestions?

Forget the lakes. Check out the Sacramento Delta area. There is literally over 1000 miles of navigable fresh water in the Delta. With a 310, you're likely to want to wet-slip. There are dozens of marinas in the Delta, and a 32' covered slip will likely run you around $350 / month at a decent marina.

I’ll second bobeast. I keep my 340 near Isleton in the delta and I love it. Lots of places to go and things to do. There are many great marinas to choose from.

Plus, you can boat year-round in the delta. Folsom Lake will limit boats to 5mph in the late summer if/when the lake level drops.

And there is a Sea Ray only boat club on the Delta! See me signature. The Delta does go all of the way to Sacramento where there are a couple of options as well. Feel free to PM me if you want any local info.

I lived in the Sacramento area 2 different times in my life and I heartily agree with the comments above. You really don't want your boat in any of the lakes in the area.

And get over the notion that you cannot use your boat with outdrives in salt water. San Francisco Bay is only about 4 hours away and it is a great trip and by the time you get back to the Delta all of the salt will be flushed from the engines and drives. All you will need to do is wash well the boat when you return.

What? Some one actually considering moving TO Californication? You will definitely want to bring your boat to escape the insanity! Best of wishes to you on your move and I whole heartedly agree with the other posters about keeping the boat in the Delta. I would probably look in the Tower Park/Willow Berm area as it is central instead of the Sac River near the city. It takes forever to get down river these days.
    Cheers

Oxbow Marina is also a good choice. We were there for 10 years and it was a very happy time.

+1. I've been there for about a year. Great people! That said, Oxbow is currently up for sale so who knows what changes are in store. Anybody got a cool $10 million they can spare?

Up for sale....interesting. We've been gone nearly 3 years and I know a lot of changes happened during that time. We loved it there and as I said we had 3 different boats there over 10 years. It worked really well for us.
