Heading to Sag Harbor later next week and trying to find Marina's that have transient slips. Anybody have any recommendations? Looking for a Marina that is close to the main part of Sag Harbor so we can walk to the restuarants and attractions. Will need Shore power and water.

Thanks to all.

Also, does anybody have any information about the local waterways to Sag Harbor. We are coming from Morgan Marina in NJ and basically going to hug the coastline of LI till we get to Jones inlet then head in and then go to Sag via the intercostal. Haven't done the trip before but I do here there are some bridges and other shallow areas like the Morachie's that are shallow and that we need to be careful in. Can anybody give some additional advice.

Thanks.

Sorry no help with getting there other than watch your height at the fixed bridge from the shinnecock Canal out to the bay at Sag, but once you're there, stay at the Sag Harbor Yacht Club. Just spent a few days there and they treated us like gold. Don't get intimidated by the megas, most were actually really nice folks and the crews were just as nice. Only about three blocks from "downtown" really nice place. WWW.sagharboryc.com. Did ten days 350 miles out to block island. We worked the north shore of LI, Port Jeff (on the hook int the sand pit and danford's Marina), Three Mile harbor (Gardiners Marina) Sag (SHYC) Block (Champlins) Essex Ct (Essex Island Marina) then home to the Lake. The clam chowder at The Corner Bar in Sag was by far the best As were the R rated Adult Milk shakes at LT Burger. If you make it out to East hampton, Three Mile Harbor, Michael's of Maidstone has the best Prime Rib I've had in a while. Hope this helps.

We just came back from Montauk Yacht Club via the IC from Shinnecock to the home port in Patchogue. From my recollection coming in at Jones beach you just stay along the south side of the bay in that long relatively straight channel. Once you pick up the IC past Davis Park/ Watch Hill area the bouy's are clearly marked. BTW, there is fuel in the Patchogue river in the north side of the bay here if you need it.
The tightest part of the channel was just east of the Moriches inlet, in Moriches bay. On our charts it was not even shown as they called out the frequent shoaling and changing conditions etc. My understanding is that this area was recently dredged and in pretty good shape. The channel through this part was generally straight ( I think it used to be a big Dogleg north then back). Just be dilligent here bcause the channel is narrow and we had birds standing on sand just to the south of the channel and about 6 inches of water just north of the channel.
There were three bridges east of there to Shinnecock that had 11-15 ft clearance. We only needed to lower our VHF antenna at the 11 foot bridges (Mind you I was on my friends 280 DA). The area through Quogue canal etc. is all basically 5 mph but it is a nice ride. You can fuel up just west of SI but be wary of the currents as you disembark. They really grab your boat and move it. From there you will head north up the Shinnecock canal and the locks. I really can't be any help here but maybe others who have been that route will chime in. Good Luck & enjoy the ride!

Thanks for all the advice all. Unfortuanetly I had to cancel my trip as my boat still isn't in the water yet and won't be till later this week. So I will have to try to do this next year and remember this post to keep all the recommendations. :)

Thanks again.
