Anyone have any ideas where I can find a wood replacement table to replace the original blue mica one..It's a 95 370 DA..
Thanks

If you want something unique- go to a local woodworking shop and have them create something for you. Great chance to customize the boat if you want something different, otherwise the same shop may be able to recreate the same exact thing.

The other option is to build you own. We had a huge mostly formica OEM table that ws just too big. We wanted a movable table that was smaller but in the same general design as the factory version. I made one from cherry that compliments the boat's interior.

Peter,

You are much better at this photo stuff than I! Can I just email you the photos I need to post and let you do it?

Just for clarification, my daughter's pup is asleep on a teak parquet table I made for the cockpit.

At your service!!

And don't e-mail the photo's.... I have them all....

Nice work!! I assume that's a solid piece..was the weight a factor with a single pole like in the 370..also what you use for the finish? I may try this myself after I'm done rebuilding the aft seats..
Thanks

It isn't solid.......the top is 1" then the border is another piece of 2" cherry. Aside from cost of 3" cherry, it would be so heavy a crane would be needed to move it!

The top is 1", planed to about 13/16th's to clean it up on both sides then assembled with splines in routed grooves and glued with West Systems epoxy. The bottom is 2" X 6 or 8" cherry, planed, ripped or bandsawed as needed to keep the grain aligned with the top then clamped and glued to the table top. The inside of the 2" is trimmed to a respectable contour with a router..the outer edge is cut with several different router bits to get the right radius and depth of cut. The joint between the 1" and the 2" bottom is hidden where 2 router contours meet.

Honestly, I have more time in the finish on both tables than in the woodworking. The cherry table was progressively sanded from 150 grit up to 320 grit then coated, top and bottom, with West Systems epoxy to speed finish build up and to seal the wood. Then, even though most people say you cannot spray varnish, I sprayed the table with Interlux Schooner varnish.....16 coats. After each coat, the surface was block sanded with 400 grit wet or dry paper, wet. After coat 12, I changed to 600 grit wet or dry. After the final coat of varnish, I blocked sanded with 800 grit paper, then 1000 grit, then began buffing with rubbing compound.......final buffing was with a clearcoat leveler or a very fine rubbing compound.

Doing and finishing to yacht quality levels takes more than an afternoon, but it is a lot of fun and is very rewarding when it comes out right......Go for it!

Cruiser,

I also have a '95 370DA......I'm curious , you mentioned "aft seats", are you talking about the ones in the aft cabin or in the aft of the cockpit? Did you have a problem or doing an upgrade? I'm all about improving my boat!

John

Excellent looking tables! I am contemplating doing the same thing and making a custom table...just do not have the time at this point. Good examples of fine craftsmanship. I also have a 95 370 and always looking for the next "project".

John,
I'm actually rebuilding the aft bolsters in the cockpit..the one by the sink and the other that's along the transom seat..

Yea, I hear ya........I'm going to pull the one behind the helm seat, if it ever warms up around here.........that and flat screen TVs and replace the cockpit ice maker with a fridge and a few other things. Seems like it never ends, but I enjoy it!

John

Yeah, flat screens are next..after table and bolsters..I've been busy this winter with risers,manifolds,oil/trans coolers, repacking rudders,fuel/water pumps/flushed out heat exchangers,t stat housings etc..can't wait till spring!!
Found this for the table... http://www.vandykes.com/product/02384464/
Looks like it'll save a little time..
Have any idea where your going to mount the flat screens..over the original cutouts or elsewhere..just curious...I've been weighing every option..

I am also looking to replace the TV's with LCD's and replace the cockpit ice maker with a refrigerator. Anyone know what the closest fit for the fridge is? Everything that I have seen is bigger and requires a fair amount of cutting to put it under the companion seat. I am also thinking of putting a TV in the cockpit (removable) that would interchange with the master stateroom.

I also have 370da 1996 just put tv outside on searay bracket on top of sink plus I have the same samsung white 19 inc lcd in cabin, I took out tv with vcr cut piece of wood bigger than hole put longer screws and set each screw a couple turns, manuver wood in side and reach under and tighten screws which grab wood to the wall and pulls tv in put (directv box dvd or cable) under tv and no more space looks and works perfect .

This is an old post but I don't get on here often. I too wanted a wood salon table for my '98 370da. At Seafarer Marine in Ft Lauderdale, I saw 2x4' 5/8 marine ply with cherry venier and laser cut inlaid compass rose. I think they were getting them from Wisconsin. I had the piece cut to size, edged with solid cherry and finished for a total of about $600 and change. This work was done in Trinidad so it would probably be more in the US. Matches the cherry interior and dresses things up.

Let's talk some more about the bolster redos. I think all of our 90's DAs are coming due.
