FYI : Though both head vacuflush systems were working fine, one was making a " banging " noise after each flush. After disassembling, all appeared to be normal. Further investigation revealed excessive " lash " in the gears of the motor shaft. The bellows and associated parts were normal, but I decided to purchase the repair " kit " to extend any future service interval ! The " Kit " is considerably less expensive than buying " ala carte". Whisper quiet now.....! What a S..... Job !!:smt038

Nice job. And you aren't kidding! I changed out the duckbill valve in mine last year as preventative maintenance. I cracked open the first hose clamp and hose and about died. I don't have the stomach or nose for that. It took all I could to close that back up! I didn't care what people say, I had to run some bleach through the system. No other way around it. Once I did that, it smelled nice and fresh. :smt001

I'll look back in a couple of wks and realize that job was nothing.... Next project is replacing 130' of sanitation lines. I was told that in the '05 -'06 range there was a bad run of hoses. Mine are all checked or cracked. No smells or leaks, but I'm not waiting for it to happen !

Roger that.....it ain't for sensitive stomachs.....! What surprised me was the line, from the head to the vacuum generator tank , still held a strong vacuum after being on the hard for 5 months !

We have an authorized repair facility here. Had my toilet, pump, duck bills and all lines back to the tank replaced. Didn't cost that much in labor and saved me the agony.

That's the way to do it brother!! I did one pair of my duckbills last year ( that's all WM had in stock) & I didn't find it that excruciating. Maybe my sh!t don't stink!! Bwwaaaahahahaaaaa

Last fall I had the same noise, clunking from the pump so I investigated getting it repaired. I had quotes for rebuilding the system as well as rebuilt pump cost and decided to order the same kit shown here, plus I ordered the new duck bills which needed to be replaced anyway. It really is an easy job, took all of 35 minutes and now I have a very strong system with little sound from the pump. Anyone with a few tools can do it, smell on my system was not bad as I flushed the system first.

Vic's Vapor rub under the nose does wonders! I was an EMT for 15 years and a few times had to pull decomposing bodies or those burned to death. The first one, one of the guys on the crew was passing the container around and I did not use it that time. No matter how much testosterone you think you have, nature has a way to bring you to your knees. So anytime I have to work on the head, out comes the purple little container and a swatch under the nose.

That's a great little tip!!
