Should you buy a gun or not?

So u dont really want facts, I get it now.
I had the “facts” I was looking for the obviously informed perception of those that disagree with me.

You know, a discussion.

“I don't know because I don't have the data because I don't need it.“
That should be a Trump campaign t shirt. You’d sell millions.

Well, since I originally only responded to the OP's question about buying a gun, and not to ur query, you called me.

Carry on with your quest for an argument, I mean discussion ;)

Enjoy the echo chamber!

I was looking for the perception by those that think gun ownership is necessary.

savvy?

I savvy way much better than you! I figure those who can't grasp the concept of self defense also can't read too well, so I kept the grammar to about a 2nd grade level for you.

You're free to be a subject if you will.

I choose to be a citizen.

Not to mention it is my god-given right to protect myself, it is also an American right, and if I feel like using my rights WHO the F are YOU to question it??
You are similarly free to NOT avail yourself of your rights, and that is your choice.

If you simply HAVE to have a reason, I have nerve damage in my weak hand and a surgically repaired strong side wrist.
I have done some damage in the past to the repair and have significant arthritis there. If I were ever to be in a position to have to defend myself, I get ONE punch before my wrist/hand is useless.
I'll CCW all day, every day, thank you very much.

Just looking for data. How often is it proven that a gun makes a difference with regard to self defense? There must be a number?

https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/armed-citizen/

Here are a number of news reports going back to the eighty's.

John Lotts' research estimates 1.5-2 million times per year, although as mentioned early the vast majority never result in shooting the bad guy so the news and cops are rarely involved.

Key point is the good guy/gal goes home at the end of the day.

No, your kind never wants a "discussion", you want to tell others what they should believe.

I go back and forth on owning a handgun. I may buy a Sig or Glock but not carry. Just leave it at home for the zombie apocalypse. That and my Mossberg 500 should do it…. Till I run out of ammo.

You are avoiding my question. Just looking for data. How often is it proven that a gun makes a difference with regard to self defense? There must be a number? What is it?

You're not looking for a number..... you're looking to argue over a subject you obviously are against..... the second amendment in the Bill of Rights. Be honest with yourself and everyone else here, regardless of whatever data any second amendment supporter posts here, you'll post data from some half ass website in the attempt to disprove it.

You seem to be enjoying your first amendment on this forum, why not let anyone who wants to make use of their second amendment enjoy that. IMHO, one of the reasons our forefathers instated the second amendment was just in case the first one was taken away. Seeing how the current administration is currently running things, that may happen sooner than we all think!

@Cdillerud it's just an inanimate object - no need to be scared.

The police will get there just in time to draw the chalk line around your body. There are PLENTY of instances that make the news where a good guy with a gun stopped something bad from happening and even moreso that don't make the news. Often times when you pull the gun, the incident is over without firing a shot...

Here is where your assumptions go off the rails/. I have no problem with 2a at all. Nor do I want an argument(I am finding around here that simply having a different opinion than the overwhelming majority is considered “arguing” or “pot stirring”

I wanted to have a discussion based on the thread title. I don’t feel I need a gun. Wasn’t that the question? I have never once said you don’t have the right to one. Not once. So you are 100% wrong.

So don't carry one, what do we care?
