My shower box was not pumping out water. I replaced the pump and float switch. Before putting it back together I put a garden hose on the hose going out of the box and flushed it. After putting it back together the pump goes on when the box fills but will not pump water. When I hit the float switch manually it will pump. Anybody have similar issue?

I guess I'm not understanding the difference ....

You're saying if the pump comes on by itself, you can hear the pump going but it's not actually moving out any water? But if you operate the float manually, then it does?

In both cases if you can hear the pump going, it should evacuate the water.

Is the hose between the pump and end of the box free and clear? Also if you have some kind of joker/check valve after the pump to prevent backflow, does that work properly to let water out?

I dont know how it would happen, but perhaps a wiring issue/error? Float triggers pump and it runs backwards? But manual operation it runs forwards?

Again - should only be a few wires.. 2, maybe 3 wires. How many wires do you have?

Can you post a picture?

Good call on reversed polarity.

I have occasionally seen this on mine. Almost like the pump is trying to pull a prime and fighting against the check valve and lift. Once it starts it has been fine. I only see this when I have completely emptied my sump box for cleaning and start it up again.

I spoke to rule the maker of the pump. They said if there is low spot in the discharge hose water will stay in the tube causing an air blockage. Not sure how to remedy this as the discharge hose is not accessible.

Hmmm, the pump is the low spot. I guess they are thinking an air lock in a loop somewhere. Regardless, I pop the pump out of the clip and kinda move it side to side to help it (hard to describe) once its pumping I snap it in and its good to go.
