SMX ir AC control

It appears the "cool" button on my AC controller is intermittent. Do I need to replace the unit? If so Any recommendations on where to purchase? I've see it on line for about 300.00. Any thoughts appreciated.

I have heard of people pulling them apart and just cleaning the contacts

Not sure what you mean by intermittent but you can always clean the contacts on the back.
If I remember correctly its an RJ45 plus (like a network cable).

Before you do this - have you been using the factory remotes from the front birth or salon??
I had a problem where the cool setting kept getting shut off and I was blaming the kids for touching the controls when the cabin getting hot.
After some research it turned out to be an IR conflict with one of the remotes.
The SMX ir has the option for a remote that I do not have.

A little black tape over the IR sensor and the problem went away - kids stayed though :smt043

Agreed with other IR remotes interfering, my tv remote keeps shutting down my Ac when I change channels.:smt021

Thanks all. Pulled it off yesterday and cleaned contacts on back of pc board. Seemed to work. Will see what happens. Thx again
