Soon To Be 410 owner... I hope.

Since you have the Cat service records, was this the reason the engines were changed or was it due to a valve failure? If soft blocks were previously identified as defective and the engines replaced for that reason, buy the boat and enjoy it. If the engines were replaced for a different reason, ask some more questions and reconsider the Cat survey because Caterpillar stopped warrantying the soft blocks in about 1/2005.

He said a couple of gaskets on both engines were replaced. Not the engines themselves.

Yeah, just the some gaskets were replaced, not the engines.

All indications were that these bad castings were out of the pipeline well before 2002. seems like mid 90s were the notorious ones.

I will call up Carolina Cat and see if they can at least to the blow-by test.

Wow! It looks like a very nice boat. A great price too! Congrats and I hope it all works out!

Boat is MINT MINT MINT.

Engines were checked today, solid 185 for 15 minutes at WOT.

Shaft seal with a minor leak.

Water pump seals weeping a little bit.

I cannot emphasize the condition of this vessel enough.

BEAUTIFUL.

Full condition and value survey tomorrow.

Congrats!

Are you going to consider bumping those wheels down a bit? A 410 will carry a LOT more weight around than you had for the sea trial.

Yeah, I do think that the props may need a bit of help.

I will boat with full fuel, so that is 2000lbs or so more than what we had in the tanks.

I am going to have to play around a bit.

Awsome looking boat. Lot's of luck with everything. Although I'm not a big help as I'm still learning myself about the larger vessels here's my long distance purchase experience. Hope it helps a little

Surveyor noted port shaft seal leaking a bit. Brought it home anyway. Packing gland is bad, the first $1000 in...

Oh well, boat is a beauty, I will post some photos when I get it in the slip.

Thought I was going to be boating this weekend, such is life.

Worst part is, I am out of town next weekend, first weekend with the boat, I am in Louisville, ouch.

Congratulations. I have a 2001 410 for 3 seasons now and love the boat. I just got back from a 2400 mile trip to and from florida and she handled like a champ. Assuming you got that boat at or below the online asking price, you got a phenomenal deal! Good luck with her..

I too put 10% down sight unseen...(other yacht world pictures and dealing with a reputable broker) It is the process, sea trial, surveys, everything is an escape clause and you can call uncle anytime and your deposit is fully refunded.

Find your boat, negotiate your price, make sure your escape clauses are included and GO FOR IT !!
