Still Pond Raft '09

Chesapeake Bay most of 2009 season, then moving to Louisville / Ohio River this fall.

Kpetry Are you movong to Louisville at some point or are you there now? I grew up there and most of my family are still there.

Great choice of weekends. I was planning on going to Still Pond or the Wye for an "anchor out" weekend as that Friday night is a full moon. We should have a couple of super bright nights out on the hook that weekend.

Cool. I hadn't checked the lunar calendar. Let's go with that weekend. A few of us can get there on Friday night.

And Josh, isn't every night bright with those bitchin' lights of yours?

I do love the lights...but a full moon, clear sky, sweet anchorage, and an ice cold beer...ahhhhh! Summer can't get here fast enough!

OK, the proposed weekend is also the Chester River 'palooza. I'm not a big palooza guy so I didn't know that. I "randomly" picked this weekend, but the following three weekends I will (lord willing) be on a trip to New England, and by the time I get back it's mid August (crap, the summer is over already and it hasn't even started!).

How about the previous weekend, July 11th? Or can people weigh in on their palooza preferences. I really like this full moon idea...

I can’t see missing Aquapalooza, but making the run up there for Saturday night and Sunday would be no big deal for us.

Always hear about Still Pond's but have never been there...sounds like fun. Is it pretty well sheltered or do we have to worry about wind kicking up like Fairlee?

Mike-
It's very sheltered, if you go to the areas marked in my chart with the yellow or red dots (first post on this thread). The area with the blue dot is a fun area with a sandbar but is exposed to the NW, making it a dangerous place to be during a T-storm.
That said... your boat may be beyond the size limit for the yellow area, and may draw too much for the red... how much does that best draw anyway?

Don't forget the directions you gave me to get back there... "Stay tight to starboard until the trees are brushing the bridge then make a left..."
