Ok I seem to be the only talker on this thread but that ok. Original plan was go go Annapolis for memorial weekend watch blue angels. But other than AYC all other marinas are in Eastport. Too far to walk to town with our old legs, so thinking St mikes, Oxford. Options very welcome. Cmon guys we boat in best place in the world. Let’s rock this thread .

I'm up on the C&D Canal and travel as far as the Bohemia River. We anchor up, have a great time and stop at the Chesapeake Inn on the way home, if we can get a slip. With this new to us boat we have visions of traveling the bay and visiting several other marinas.

Did you try Annapolis Yacht Basin? How about snagging a mooring ball?

Headin to Annapolis Yacht Basin, missed last year because of no boat and COVID, Been going for years,

Did the math. 3 day trip to Oxford, $500 gas, $200 slip, $200 food and drinks (prolly more). So $1000 for 3 day trip. Nope, not this year. I should start a go fund me site. For $200 I’ll send pics.

I had new front canvas top made this winter(see profile pic). Put up today, hoooollleeee crap! It was so tight. Pulled and pushed, took me hour and a half to get it all up with side curtains and camper canvas. They said it would need to stretch. Didn’t expect that. Every muscle in upper body aches. What a workout. Leaving it for a month in sun to loosen up.

We have a group of boats leaving the upper reaches of the Potomac River in early June with planned stops at Coles Point, Herrington Harbor South, Chesapeake Inn & Marina, and South Jersey Marina in Cape May. Approximately 300 miles to Cape May, then we have to come back. Guesstimating 700 gallons of fuel. 8-9 Marina nights. Looking forward to it.

Last year, yes during the pandemic, we traveled over 2000 miles via boat on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. It truly is a fantastic playground.

Chestertown- 2day overnighter
#1 is Chestertown Marina in town, easy walk to places? #2 is there quiet local bars (day drinking) #3 we like mom/pop local restaurants. Never been there, opinions welcome.

Took a super long trip this evening from the C&D Canal to the Chesapeake Inn. Must have taken us about 22 minutes.

In-laws rented a house on the water with a dock up the river from St. Michaels in August so taking the boat there for a week. Hopefully my boat is fixed by then...still stuck in Rock Hall waiting on engine work.

Heading down the bay over 4th of July week to Solomon's, Cape Charles, Deltaville and Shipwright Harbor. Then planning to spend a short week in Wildwood in August with five other boats. I'm sure we'll hit our usual haunts of Great Oaks, Tolchester, Oxford, St. Mikes and the Hyatt Cambridge at some point. We usually finish up with an overnight in Havre de Grace in October.

I need to learn of these places now that we have a boat to explore the bay. I'd be a little nervous heading into these places not knowing the waters, specific marinas and the surrounding town.

Best recommendation for our first trip? Will be heading south from the C&D Canal. Can either be a day trip or preferably overnight at the marina.

So we chose Chestertown marina. They’re booked full already. Next try, Mears Kent Narrows.
Chestertown was booked for holiday. Made reservations at Rock Hall Landing, but I am freakin out. We rescued a lil street urchin kitty 6 years ago and this will be first time she ever alone. No, we can’t take on boat, indoor cat, would lose her mind.

Can advise if you give me ideas what trips you taking, if prefer marinas or anchor in quiet coves. How long ad where.

Haven't taken a trip to a destination yet. We always anchor up in a river, swim and hang out and then return to our home port late at night. Thinking it would be a fun trip to goto X marina, get a slip for the night and enjoy the marina amenities or walk through town.
