Looking to do a temp repair on my ripped vinyl seam. Just need to get to the end of the season before having the entire bridge redone. I could just have this cushion done but planning to make a few design/color changes so holding out for the full project. I just want to stop this from getting any bigger and I want to protect the foam as its in good shape. Was thinking white duct tape but wanted to see if there is something specific to vinyl i should be looking at?

I would get some vinyl repair tape and try to work it from the inside, take the seat cover off if you can. Anything you just stick on the outside is not going to hold up.

Because you're in a seam, maybe try stitching it back together. Could do from the outside if you don't care how it looks. It's a two beer job.

White duct tape would be fine. Also try to get some plastic sheeting under it to protect the foam - you do not want to wind up replacing that too. You could try to close it with a ladder stitch but in this location it will be a pain especially with the sewn in stripe and piping.

Thanks, Yes want to protect the foam as much as possible as its in good shape. Was wondering about putting a few stitches in there as well. being at the end of the seat it will be used very often so anything additional to secure would help.

Tape should hold it fine. I would run it the length of the seam. The vinyl and backing have basically dried out at this point. The stitch holes are acting as a perforation allowing it to rip.

I had this issue last season before I replaced it all again. I put plastic under the opening to protect it the foam. Then used epoxy and taped overt that. It held up to an 80lb lab jumping on it for most of last season. The foam was fine and everything was replaced over the winter.
