I was originally communicating with the OP on fixing his boat in my shop. He stopped responding to text messages and PM's on the site. It says he hasn't been since here since April? Odd.
Sorry about that. Long story short, a bunch of "life stuff" happened at the same time and took me away from dealing with boat stuff and I forgot to reply back after I came back up for air.
I'd want to forget and move on too. Probably left the boat with its freeze cracked block in a high crime neighborhood and made a theft claim against his insurer.
Dude, why didn't you recommend this as an option earlier this year before I spent the money on the repair? Edit: Oh, you did!
Anyway, here's an update to what all happened since my last post:
- I spent hours calling various places looking for a drop-in replacement engine - out of stock/back ordered.
- I debated on doing the engine repair myself or with help from someone such as @douglee25 but started to run in to issues with parts being challenging to source.
- Life stuff happened and I decided to just swap time for money and dropped my boat off at the dealership for repair in April.
- The dealership re-built the engine with a new long block and given that they could apparently not test the exhaust manifolds, the boat sat there for a couple of months while they sourced some manifolds.
- Repair finally completed around July.
Not super crazy about how it all played out but hey, I shouldn't have gotten a boat if I wasn't looking to throw a bunch of money and/or time away, right?
