The future of EVs? Maybe not so bad?

Wow, What an elitist statement…

really? A lot of people lease nowadays so that’s 24-39 months
Not to mention most if not all of my cars never made it to 10 years junk doesn’t last that long except Our 2003 expedition that we donated to diabetes the truck driver couldn’t believe the condition it was still a great truck ( that one lasted)

Everybody’s thoughts and likes are different.
My daughter and sil lease because they figure they will have a payment anyway so even though leases are usually not the best way to go financially, it’s no fuss, just turn it in when it most likely is going to need brakes and tires soon anyway.

Us on the other hand pay for a new vehicle and drive it until we are tired of it. usually around 8-10 years. Most American cars have improved to the point that they run pretty much trouble free for a long time.
My 2012 parked next to my 2021 when I traded it last year. I think the dealer wanted my old truck more than he wanted the new one. It was mint and because of the market conditions he could way over pay me for it and then sell it for a third of the cost of the new one to someone who just can’t afford a new F350. Rather than wholesaling it off, he sold it off his lot in 3 days.

The damage being done by the corrupt "renewable" energy and EV dope pushers.
Okay, so to clarify, you don’t have an issue with EV cars you have an issue with corruption/

No, why would I have an issue with EVs? They should be part of the smorgasbord of transportation options. My issue is with people peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining. When you "end fossil fuels" (Biden) or outlaw ICEs (California, et. al.) and pretend like the EV and "renewable" energy is going to save us in the next 10-15 years, it's complete BS. Yet that's what these corksoakers are doing. And causing untold amounts of damage doing it.

So I’m confused why does mentioning ‘EV’ trigger 20 pages of misinformation and lies?

What kinds of Untold damaged?

Also, check here for some facts:https://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/electric-vehicle-myths

#1 myth is that Ev’s pollute more than ice due to power production. Answer is nope.
#5 myth is that ev’s have a higher carbon footprint when you factor in manufacturing and power generation. Answer is nope.

Ev, solar, wind people are annoying because they do evangelize their choices. But that is a true statement for almost anything. Sea Ray is the only boat. Dewalt tools are the best. Yada yada yada. Opinions are like puckerholes, everyone has one and everyone else’s stinks.

This thread could have been about the things we like about EVs but instead it turned into a red state, blue state bore. I had a plug-in hybrid early on and really enjoyed it. Now that ranges have increased I wouldn’t hesitate to buy an EV, except maybe due to price.

The investments are about jobs. The developed world is driving towards EVs and you are arguing about all the jobs the buggy whip manufacturing creates.

This whole post is just a tired trope. The government is not a neutral party in all this. The ignorance is it is not red and blue states but about freedom. If one cannot see that they probably do not deserve freedom…

So are the hard seltzer manufactures trying to take away your beer as well. Wrap your opinion in a flag if you wish but I’ve already stated my thoughts on at least your opinions about EVs.

You really have no clue what us going on. The government is pressuring John Deere to make electric tractors and combines. The farmers say there is no way to currently do that as many million dollar combines run continuously for consecutive days…

again, this is just wishful thinking. Just like “free trade” with Asia.
Wishful thinking? It's actually happening. Another example, ESG and all that.
https://www.gfanzero.com/press/amou...ow-at-scale-needed-to-deliver-the-transition/
Today, through the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ), over $130 trillion of private capital is committed to transforming the economy for net zero.1 These commitments, from over 450 firms across 45 countries, can deliver the estimated $100 trillion of finance needed for net zero over the next three decades.

To support the deployment of this capital, the global financial system is being transformed through 24 major initiatives for COP26 that have been delivered for the summit. This work has significantly strengthened the information, the tools and the markets needed for the financial system to support the transformation of the global economy for net zero.

Yes, the world is encouraging investment in perceived net zero initiatives. By pressure, do you mean they are offering John Deere funding to do research in the use of EV technologies in the farming industry? Or are you saying they are telling John Deere that they will hound them out of business if they don’t immediate convert? Not so sure I’m the clueless one.

Would you rather the USA be the World Leader in technology, or hold fast to the tried and true. It doesn’t matter in the end whether the reasons are correct or not as the World opinion is trending towards EV. We either own it or we eat what somebody else is serving later.

That's very much a jobs program.

We can be a part of these jobs or not. It's our choice.

If you can show me where a government agency and/or Anheuser Busch et. al. have announced the elimination of beer, then yes. Governments and car makers have both announced the end of the ICE. Try another analogy.

You're smart. You can either figure it out or keep your head firmly planted up your butt.

Have you EV lovers even thought things thru. As my mother used to say, if the World opinion was to jump off a bridge, would you?

You guys keep missing the back half of the claim -- that somehow EVs are going to save the planet, with no recognition of the negative and/or unintended consequences of Evs. It's all Unicorns and Rainbows to you people.

If you're looking to have a discussion, you're going to have make a correlation here. What jobs are EV costing? What are the negative and/or unintended consequences?

Or are you just set on telling me how I'm wrong?

You can't figure it out. That's my point. You all don't think. You just take what the AOC's of the world say at face value. It's just Unicorns and Rainbows.

Take a look at the entire ICE drive train. All the parts that make up the engine, transmission, drive line, etc. All the assembly that goes into that. Sure there will be substitutes for the EVs, but everyone says the beauty of EVs is the lack of maintenance and complex equipment. Has anyone of your EV heroes even studied it before they spout off on how it's "about jobs." Nobody's even looked at it. Give me a break.
