One of my favorite features is the side window that looks like a Killer Whale.

Nice!! Enjoy the Italian glamour...

Mike,

That's some gorgeous looking yacht. Congrats!!!

One of my dockmates upgraded to Azimut 50 FLY last fall. I'd love to hear your experience once you get to know the boat.

Best of luck on sale of your 480. I'm sure she won't be on the market for long.

Beautiful boat. Congratulations! A few weeks ago I met a guy that was the new owner of a 66 Azimut. His previous boats was a 33 Formula, so it was big upgrade. He told me that he couldn't get insurance unless he hired a captain to run the boat. While it makes sense, I had never heard of that before.

Hi D-Dock! I know you're trolling. Stand by for the official word.

Congrats Mike. Looks like the Newport boat show was worth the trip.

I was at the Newport Show Mike.....on our 650 over by Bowen's dock....dang sure wish we could have visited. Can I help you on either boat as I know your boat and windows, well!

All the best, keep us posted!

Hi Rusty,
Just missed you! We'll cross paths soon. My 48 has been a pleasure every moment. The support from you and Sea Ray has been beyond expectations. Nothing is final yet, but moving in the right direction.

Mike,

If the deal isn't done, then neither am I........are you sure this nice looking Italian boat is more than Sea Ray's 510FLY. The 510 has 3 staterooms and is way fun to drive. I can go on and on about boats but it is your satisfaction that is most important to me. Can I come up there and personally take us on a 510FLY, I'll find one somewhere. Or even better, do you want to come down here to the factory where you and I can try out a couple different ones, too include a couple new models which won't appear until the Lauderdale Show. Please remember, I am not a salesman, therefore I will not try and sell you a thing.

It would not only be a ton of fun but my absolute pleasure to assist you in which direction to entertain. I am easy to find because I am in the USA !!!! I am easy to call because you have my cell phone number in the USA !! I stand when the National Anthem is being played and am proud to be associated with a couple hundred employees here who are producing a damn fine American built product........that's my take as your personal factory representative.

Your call Doc.....I'll keep my phone on for ya.

This was the year they showed me something compelling. Nice bumping into you there.

You too. Good luck with the new purchase. I have to wait one more year and we will be looking at 50ft flys.

Rusty,
We were settled on the Sea Ray 510 Fly until we saw the Azimut 50 side by side at the boat show. We were impressed with the larger Flybridge, and the bow layout on the Azimut. The build and materials was impressive. The Azimut also has 3 staterooms. The Azimut came with a SeaKeeper and real teak on all outdoor surfaces. The same sales guy at Russo Marine/Marine Max who sold me my 290, 330, and brokered the 48, showed us the Azimut 50, a new line for them. They also have a 510 Fly in stock. The 50 is fantastic and comes with a good pedigree. No doubt, the 510 is a great boat and I'm big on Sea Ray, but the price point was out of reach even without the Sea Keeper on the 510. If everything was equal, price, teak, and SeaKeeper, I'd probably go for the Sea Ray. Today, I could not pay the price tag of an equivalently optioned 510 Fly. Even without the options, it is still higher.

I have nothing but good things to say about Sea Ray. If I could throw my business to them a 4th time and get an equal boat, I would. This purchase continues to support a lot of Americans, most especially The Russo's and their employees. Sea Ray has been going upmarket and overseas as a strategy for survival. I blame this on the destruction of the middle class and the burden of government regulations, taxation, and health care costs. It is very difficult to compete and buy American. I hope it is reversible.

I hope so too Jackie. Those are sad, sad words. I hope we all think of this when we vote this fall...

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't want this to devolve to a political discussion but I hope that whoever wins this November can change the business climate and bring business and manufacturing back to our great nation. We need to this to rebuild the middle class so company's like Sea Ray can better compete.

I'm with you with regards to being conflicted about buying Sea Ray. I LOVE Sea Ray boats....love them. But despite the fact that my finances will allow me to afford a new boat, Sea Ray has priced me out of the market. I found a cherry with my current Cobalt and I will never sell it but I would like to get back to a cruiser. I really have a tough time with the prices of new Sea Rays though. Awesome boats, great designs, unbeatable craftsmanship from the most skilled U.S. workers....and a price that is completely disproportionate especially considering the extreme depreciation you will have in the immediate few years of ownership. I feel as though Sea Ray has overpriced their mid-high end boats in order to recoup the losses of the recession. I want to come back but I don't see it happening until the prices balance out.
