The Official 450 Express Bridge Owners Club

Hi All,

RE the ER hatch drain, if you haven't traced it, the hose is a fairly straight shot under the deck to the common drain. If it won't flush, I'll bet a socket or similar tool has fallen down the drain and clogged it. The hose is only 5 ft or so, You are most likely going to have to remove the hose to check for blockage, but as boat projects go, not too bad.

And speaking of boat projects, here's an update on my steering cylinder leak. I tried to call/EM the company about a rebuid vs new one. They did not answer me, but after some consideration, decided to order a new one (I could not get the old one apart so I thought if they could not either, I'd be wasting time/money, plus it is 23 years old in a saltwater environment, etc). Install/bleed is straight forward. The only "big" issue is my size getting under the genset (had to move shore cord tub BTW). Anyway, got it all done this past weekend. looking forward to test cruise.

Thanks
Larry

Good update on the steering.

Have to do mine in Jan and will probably pull the Gen battery and cord tub. I have learned over and over that an extra 30 mins on the front and back of a project probaly saves triple that time.

Now look what y'all made me go and do... I'm the proud new owner of a 2003 450EB! Been lurking here a while and knew the 450 was the boat for me. Now I own one and have read the forum 4 times, saved all the part numbers, ordered spares, etc.
All kidding aside, looking forward to consuming and contributing to this forum. I have complete manuals, a prop puller, strong back and a weak mind. If you need any of those, please ask. Will begin my migration from East Coast of Florida in Feb, thru the Keys, Dry Tortugas and eventually up to Orange Beach, AL with an eye to the Bahama's/Exumas in late 2023/early 2024.
Already have a list of questions and boat projects, but for now just going to sit back and sip on a double bourbon.

Welcome! Nice lady you have there, looking sharp. Is that a 2 or 3 SR model?

I don't but you can rest assure someone else will! I hired a yacht mgr a year ago, my absent owner caretaker, because I live 625 miles away. But, we have been quite consistent in boating monthly for two years now. One of his first jobs was service my heads, including duck bills. Not too tough I understood.

Been dealing in $hit for most of my life, so can't been too tough... one of the reasons I decided on this yacht was the support in this forum. emailed a couple of guys offline and they were fantastic. Hoping I can contribute a little something as payback.

Perfect! Always very helpful to me. Contributed some and accomplished many smaller things myself, sharing part#'s and such. Being distant I rely a lot on my mgr because when we arrive, we go!! Next up, Naples, then Captiva with a favorite back open post Hurricane Ian. Devastation recovery still ongoing. Best of luck on your trip to a home port. Talk to locals so to figure out your hurricane plan for next year, whether to haul or relocate up a bayou or river. Here's an example, somewhere on the panhandle.

2 SR, 2 head.. which leads to my first question.. going to replace duckbill valves and bellows on both guest and master head.. any advice?
Congrats on the boat!

If the heads are still working, I would fill the bowls and flush them about 5 times (waiting for vacuum to recover between each flush) to clean out the duck bills and bellows. If you don't know the age of the bellows, I would replace those too. Had my master head bellows fail on my recovery trip, that is a mess as the system ends up just being full of whatever didn't get pumped. This kit (confirm you have 8 bolt) has duck bills and bellows.

Thanks! I've been thru the maint history and no bellows or duckbill replacement that I can find. Currently, the guest head pump runs almost continuous, so I'm sure its due and while I'm doing it, may as well do both. I figure I'll start my projects with the worst first. And thanks for the link!

If you can get a good amount of freshwater through it won't be too gross. :)

If it runs continuously you probably have a vacuum leak, those bellows are dead/dying, or both. I have a minor vacuum leak on my master head. Struggling to find it though.

Welcome again and congratulations! I remember when you were looking for a 450 back in February. I'm glad you found a good boat.

I have your HIN# from the listing of "Coastal Hops" back in October. If you don't mind please send me the internal Sea Ray number so I can add it to the register on the first page.

I can't help you on the duckbills/bellows. Luckily we haven't had any issues. :)

We have another new 450 owner who sent me a PM recently. His user name is "DGeneralDBA." He just bought a 2000, 3 stateroom model in Bermuda. The boat's name is "Elevated Risk" and he provided me with the HIN# SERP4630I900. Elevated Risk was built in September of 1999 as a 2000 model at the Palm Coast factory. Looking at the list, there were 3 450s built that month that we have records of.
Please welcome DGeneralDBA to the group!

Here is our boat in the Destin Harbor Christmas parade. We have two more parades this weekend. We won our category (Private over 31') for this parade. Second year in a row, going for the three-peat next year.

Anyone ever find a drop in replacement refrigerator for the bridge? I'd like to replace the broken uline ice maker with a fridge.. no idea what model the uline is as the stickers have long since faded..

Vito makes one that fits with a remote cooling unit. When our Uline icemaker dies we will replace with a fridge.
