@Shoyrtt Didn't realize your autopilot didn't interface. I'll have to track down the link on mine, but pretty sure it is the Sea Talk that feeds into the Garmin. Mine slaves up and follows courses and routes pretty well.
Kevin,
It looks like we have the same Raymarine AP. I'm not sure of the model number, but I was under the impression that it needed to be NMEA 2000 compatible and I thought our AP units were too old. Maybe Sea Talk is the same as NMEA 2000? My Garmin is the 741XS, which I believe was added in 2015. I'm guessing I just need a cable for the two to interface?

Yup, Raypilot 650. Dark now here in FL, but I'll look at the interface tomorrow. It definitely works on my NMEA 2000 network with my 5212.

Can send you the manual if you want,

Thank you Kevin! I believe I have the Raypilot 650 manual on the boat. I guess the the question will be connecting the two. I looked at buying the "SeaTalk/NMEA interface (part number: E85001)" and apparently Raymarine no longer makes it. There is one on Ebay at the moment, so it is at least possible to get it if need be. I'll take a look at it closely this weekend.

I was looking again at the 450 EB market. Now every boat listed is 200k and above, with a lot of 2003/04 two stateroom models for sale. This 03 in New Jersey is interesting. I'm not sure about the flat screen placement on the flybridge and how about the green counter tops in the galley.

I would bet that TV comes off and is on a pedestal. We looked at a Crusiers 38 GLS that had something like that and it could be mounted at the helm or in the salon. Also, saw some purple counters in a Crusiers 477.

Crazy on the pricing!

Raypilot 650 interface to NMEA

@Shoyrtt I chased the wires. It is not Sea Talk, there are four wires coming from the autopilot computer that plug into the NMEA network plug on the chartplotter. Assuming you could interface the AP computer into the NMEA network anywhere if your chart plotter doesn't have an open port. You can tell if it recognizing the chart plotter by navigating to a waypoint and the info shows up in the bottom of the control head.

AP computer NMEA wire connection.

No, I haven't really looked. I'm not sure what I'm going to do at this point. If it sells, that's great. If it doesn't, that's great too. I've kind of fallen into a little phase of ambivalence.

Sounds like a interesting adventure as it opens up options.

Best of luck on the sale! How many offers have you already gotten? Seems like it is still a feeding frenzy out there.

I would guess the struts are pretty easy to find and replace. I have them on my off season list to take care of. I'm not sure if you saw this in the thread earlier, but I built a little platform above my battery banks to hold a tool box. It really comes in handy when you are locked in the engine room. :D
Which radar, tridata and vhf are you purchasing for the boat? Do you still have the original Raymarine autopilot? I do and that is one thing that I might upgrade soon so it can sync with the Garmin for navigation.

Nice tool box platform. Finally getting to upgrade my electronics after 16 mos of ownership of my 2002 450EB.
Garmin open array radar inoperable & irreparable,
Raymarine GPS RN300 screen has two vertical 1" wide blanks (redundant actually to new chartplotter)
Raytheon ST7001 autopilot doesn't work (not sure if worth renewing due to infrequent use)
Raytheon ST60 Tridata only shows depth and innacurate (Separate sonar depthfinder does work)
1 of 2 Standard Horizon VHF radios inoperable. 1 working has a dull screen but works fine.
Fuel sending units are at least 25% off (more fuel than gauge reads). Talking up remedy with vendor, such as using a Mareton adapter or ultrasonic sender.

New Garmin chartplotter 8612xsv installed immediately after taking possession
New installs scheduled end of next month:
Radar, open array GMR 424xHD2 (compatible with chartplotter model)
Tridata i50
Standard Horizon VHF GX1850
Steadycast heading sensor for autopilot (not clear on why added if other components of autopilot don't work)
Total devices: $4950
Labor 11.5 hrs: $1438
Misc Parts: $332 (such as a fuse block plus incidentals)
$7156 total

Sounds like an amazing upgrade!

FYI, not sure on your fuel level issue, but I think that is a 450 EB. On near empty I still have about 100 gallons (80 usable).

I think the problem stems from the fact that our tanks aren't rectangular. The inboard of both tanks slop outward from the top to the bottom. Even with an ultrasonic level, 1/2ish way empty by depth is only about 2/3ish empty by volume. Would need to be able to have some function that would bias the level based on the tank getting wider.

Agreed, empty on gauges there is a reserve of 80-100 gallons. Means I'm carrying up to 1400 lbs of extra weight (total both tanks) needlessly. I ran on empty once a couple hours which is great cause for worry of course. On fill up, I was expecting to need maybe 350 gallons but I think it was less than 300. Aware of the tanks slope as you note. Mmm, is it just the inboard side that slopes, the outboard side vertical? The Mareton "Adapter" I think is programmable for the tank. How to program may actually be an iterative process on several re-fuels. Not sure. Will report back when I get into it further.

That green counter & presume dinette doesn't appeal to me. And that TV screen? On the bridge helm? No idea what that's about. Weird to me. Can't recall if I mentioned earlier but 2 months ago found 10, 450EB's average asking price $209k for 2002-2004 model yrs. I feel good about that, question is how long that will last for a normally depreciating asset.

The interior on the Sea Rays from 20+ years ago does look a little dated today. Our boat, with the light cabinets, gold fixtures and trim along with the crepe curtains was referred to as a "museum from 1999" by a good friend. :p

And the TV location, although different, allows the flybridge to be used where there is a lot of seating on the boat. It reminds me of the wake board tower on our ski boat. I added it in 2005 from a company who designed it to be installed on the stern to allow for a full sized bimini top. I get some strange looks, but it works great.

Ok, so, my interior is exact duplicate of yours. 3sr, light color cabinetry, swing out stool. I even have dark laminate wood flooring. Never thought it a museum but ok, perhaps dated, lol. A Viking on my dock has Brazilian hardwood.

Got estimate for fuel gauge accuracy remedy. There are uncertainties, not cheap, and have to fill from an empty tank to program the adapter. Attached estimate in pdf. Not sure I'll proceed yet.

Sorry, was not ignoring your question. Was down in Austin TX for a car race over the weekend so not paying attention to much other than racing and partying. lol Worn out now. Getting too old but the brain still thinks like a kid!

I have received 4 offers to this point. Still working with a couple of them.

View attachment 114386 finished up the 12v dc TV Install. Pretty happy with the results.
Tony,
Can you share a picture of the mount you used both on the TV and on the rail? I know on my boat, there is an outlet on the port side in the cockpit cabinet. Is there one on the starboard side as well? If not, where did you run the power from to that location?
