I've got a buddy who is hoping for the same thing. There are very few boats (local) for sale around here and even fewer big tailorable ones. He's looking for a trailer boat because there are no slips to rent/ lease either. And yes, lake gas is part of boating when you can't stop at Costco or Safeway on the way to the lake. I found that we tend to do more cocktail cruising when the fuel prices go up.I’m hopping some boats hit the market.
Great way to look at it and I agree 100%.Here's a different way of looking at it.
It's how I look at all things boating.
Stop looking at the TOTAL cost.
Thats where you'd be ANYWAY.
Consider only THE DIFFERENCE !
So if fuel was $3 and is now $5 more per gallon the DIFFERENCE is $2/gallon.
It's NOT about the total, you'd be at $3 anyway.
Although not related, I would also say that upgrading to the Yanmar diesels 15 years ago in my Trojan doubled my fuel economy and range AND increased my cruise sweet spot from 15 kts to 22 kts. Plus off road diesel is cheaper than gas.
The new to me 450DA will burn a bit more fuel per mile, but again, for me I can easily justify this by looking at the DIFFERENCE as opposed to the total cost.
BEST !
