Today 33 Years of Continous SR Ownership Ended

Thanks all. I fully plan to stick around. Many ex-Sea Rayers who've moved on to different makes have stayed on. I honestly know of no better site than this one when it comes to the boating community.

I'm mostly irked at Sea Ray for abandoning me on my trade up. Because we're wanting a smaller, faster, more nimble boat I was hoping the 320 Sundancer with outboards was going to be the one but after getting on one I lost my enthusiasm.
A Scout with no Clout.... Deep Impact?

It would be hard downsizing after the 420 and finding something when you are still comparing to what you had... you need to give it sometime

In a lot of ways, yes, but we used to use our boat as a lake condo so needed the space as accommodations. We'd head up on Friday and would leave on Sunday. We had a built in kitchen, bar, party dock and a huge social environment in our boathouse. During the day we'd head to the islands and tie up and either return at night or sleep on the hook.

With the new environment we see ourselves going longer distances. I want to be able to cruise around 35mph and maybe get a hotel at the destination? I've even been looking at bigger multi-engine cruising style center consoles.

But who knows what we'll do. It sure is fun considering the possibilities.

Congratulations on the sale, hope you got a bubble premium. There is life on the other side but there is always that "it ain't a Sea Ray' feeling though. I look forward to your following your quest as I am sure you will keep us all abreast. I have enjoyed sharing my experience with the CSR community.

NEW ADVENTURE,s

Good luck with the change!

Just one word of caution with the center consoles. Prepare to get wet.

I actually sold the boat for 20% more than I paid for it 11 years ago. That said, I got an incredible deal when I bought it due to previous owner circumstances and him being rich enough not to give a darn.

It's unbelievable right now the feeding frenzy on some luxury items.

Flip side is I'm going to take it on the nose when I buy, especially if I do it sooner than later.

Yep, that's what I heard and a little secret I may need to keep from my wife :)

I do like the dual console version of some of these boats like the Whaler, Pursuit, Grady White, etc. I like their ability to handle bigger water but they're all a little to 'fishy' for me because at this point I just don't fish.

I know the feeling....though I honestly have not yet missed the boat. We can't decide if we are going to move into the 65-75 foot range or down to a mid 30 foot CC. I'm enjoying golf too much right now to think much about it.....next year maybe. A lot will depend on Biden's tax regime.

The other dirty little secret is that the shade options on a center console suck. No matter how big they get, those boats are really intended for a crew of 2-4 to enjoy the day fishing.

Have you looked at a down east or a pilothouse boat?

This boat is docked next to me and is absolutely gorgeous. It’s out of my price range though

copb8tx,
We are in the same place. Sold our SR 460DA and ATTEMPTING to buy on west coast of Florida. Then, or perhaps before, finding a day boat in the 30' range with outboards. Agreed that 99% of them are to "fishy" for our taste. We have friends with both DC & CC's and convinced us that its still hard to beat a Bowrider. My concern is that big roller swamping the bow. So far Scout, Formula, & Cobalt 28-30 are all in the running. Fun to shop though!

How could you miss the boat yet Brian? All you would be missing is the summarization costs, and I doubt you'd miss those! Lol!!

I downsized from a 3780 Regal Sedan to a Monterey 302 with outdrives, and love it, it was speedy and fun, burned less fuel, and more practical at the time.

We need to stay in touch. You are going down the exact same path I am going down. Even the boats are considering are close to mine.

I've spent the morning looking at videos and reviews of the Boston Whaler 320 Vantage.

Hits a lot of buttons accept accomodations are minimal and many don't spec them with AC and gensets.

Have a friend with a smaller vantage. It’s a really nice and well built boat.

I think that's a cool boat but I don't want to be inside a cabin the whole time in driving
Agreed, one of my boating buddies loves an inside helm on a boat. No disrespect to anyone who loves to be "indoors' in the AC while boating, but that's like adding AC to a screened porch to me. Part of the experience for me is being outdoors, even if it is a little hot sometimes.
