water spot removal on glass on sedan bridge

CLR works great. Follow it up with a good scrub with boat soap and lots of water to wash the CLR and soap suds away.

You're going to think I'm crazy :wow:, but if you can't remove those marks chemically, use 0000 steel wool...yes 0000 steel wool. My business is engraving blocks of optical crystal and when we get them from our Chinese manufacturer, there are often times marks left over from the polishing process and polishing compound. A quick swipe with 0000 steel wool and it's gone. 0000 steel wool is used for polishing wood to a satin finish, but it will not scratch glass...You can get it at Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

You still trying to get those spots out Mike...I guess my method did not work.....Leave the seel wool to the professionals

We've never been able to scratch glass with 0000 steel wool, even when we've tried hard to do that. We've tried to use it to remove scratches on glass and we've never been able to do that either. It basically takes off what isn't glass and leaves the rest. You don't have to be a pro to use it...here are the steps:

1. Buy 0000 steel wool
2. Take it out of the package
3. Rub it back and forth on desired area
4. Put back in package for next time
5. Clean glass with Windex
6. Have another beer

Is our glass really glass though? I've been told not to use ammonia based glass cleaner because it can damage the coating. Would 0000 cause damage to the coating.

I'm talking from my rear because I am going from memory and hearsay.

Great question...this technique will only work on plain uncoated glass. If it has a coating of any sort, I wouldn't try it...it probably would take the coating off.

Bill, I don't know...I just went through my owners manual and wouldn't you know, not a word about the glass. My windshield on my 320 doesn't look tinted, but....

Why not your buffer and some polish? I used to always wax my windows...

What is CLR?
It's about $5-$6 at wallyworld.

I've read that a water-vinegar mix will remove spots from glass.

Correct. The three cheapest and safest options are a 1:4 mixture of vinegar and water, CLR or Ducky Water Spot Remover. I personally use vinegar on the windows and it works great for the type of minerals in our lake. Your lake and results may vary. I used Ducky's on my previous boat with a black hull and it worked great too.
