I'm all for paying more at West Marine, within reason. Sometimes I just have to have something for a trip to the boat the next day, or same day, and they have stuff in-stock. I get it. I don't mind.

Friday I stopped in to my local WM. I needed a second Marineco plug adapter so I can connect both of my shore power cords while working on it in storage. They had one...and I nearly crapped myself when I saw the price. $73! I put it back three times before sucking it up and buying it. Even the checkout guy commented "man, I did a double take, that's quite a price for an adapter".

Insanity...

This is the Amazon price.

Cue the childish comment in 3…2..1..

I hate it when I HAVE to go there, but man there are certain times when paying the ridiculous markup saves the Day.

I can tell you that I could not buy both an l530r and an l515p cord cap for anywhere near the Amazon price, and that's a commercial electrical contractor account at multiple supply houses. And then there is the cord between the two or the time to put it together.

Doesn’t West Marine price match from Amazon? My local one does

Pretty much, mine does as well. I think it must be sold by Amazon though, meaning not a 3rd party seller.

I think it has to be "Prime". I use price match almost every time I go there and they always have matched it on the spot. Sometimes the price difference is so big the cashier get the manager but never have I been told NO.

IDK if it has to be "Prime" but it does have to be sold by Amazon. Sales by a 3rd party (aka Bobs Boat Parts) via Amazon platform don't count for price matching.

Luckily I'm also within range for my local WM to price match against Defender, too.

I need to get some crimp ring terminals for a project. Curiously, Amazon was 100% more than WM and Defender doesn't stock the ones I need.

I got shot down a few times trying to price match against Amazon so I stopped trying. :(

Yeah but that PJS store doesn't have much compared to the Babylon store. I love defender except for the 25$ shipping thing they do.

It has to show free shipping…..

You can see how bothered I was over this $36 excessive charge! Ha. I really just wanted to post about something....anything....I've been out of the water too long...and have now spent too many weekends cleaning, polishing, waxing, repeat. I need to get back to boating and breaking $hit so I have more excitement to share...

I think I need a drink.

Totally. It's been better recently, but inventory is not that store's strong suit. Patchogue is often better, and the big Islip store the best. But both are a drive that I would need to plan for vs. a quick trip from the boat.

The Defender shipping is annoying. I did join their Defender First program so I get lower prices that I can match at WM, but the shipping is still annoying (first world problems). At least when I can price match WM vs. Defender in store, I don't hit the shipping charge.
