Boat Info
1979 Sea Ray ??? That's why I'm here. I don't know what the hell it is. Michigan Title says 29ft 7in
Engines
Twin 350 Crusaders
I just bought a 1979 Sea Ray. I'm in AZ. It's in Michigan. I thought I was buying a 300 weekender. I recently realized I'm a moron and that's not what I bought at all. Bottom line is I think its smaller. And I'll need to know the beam for the Marina.and what I actually have for insurance. I'm disappointed to say the least. But it's still a great looking boat. Just going to be tighter that I wanted inside. Unless it is the wider Beam? Models show 260s and 300s."weekenders" and "Express" designations for both. Title says 29ft 7in.

Twin Crusader 350s. Direct drive.

Not much to it.

Oh boy, so you bought a 45 yr old boat sight unseen? What can go wrong with this scenario….
As mentioned, get a serial number and maybe someone can help, and some good exterior pics.
Good luck.

I wouldn't be disappointed at all. You saw all of the pictures and see what great shape it's in. That said, you will have a lot of work to do given it's a 45yr old boat. But I would take your time and enjoy the summer with it.

I owned one new. It was a very nice boat. Nice beam and quality was consistent with the competition. You do need to glass the limber holes to prevent stringer rot. The straight inboards were wonderful for handling and trim. It's an old boat now so likely needs work.

That is a good looking boat. Great space in the cockpit... At that age she will be a project for sure, but hopefully a labor of love. Post pics and info as you update.

Thanks for the replies. The entire vessel had a 100% restoration in 2015. The owners spent an amount that didn't even make sense imo. The seller in Michigan had a mutual friend with me that I've know well for 30 years. He confirmed the boat was pristine. The storage yard that moved and winterized it also confirmed condition.

I was just really concerned is was going to be a 10ft beam and all weekenders I've found have the flat bow without this step up.

Anyway I was pleasantly surprised the that wasn't the case at all.

I paid 5000 bucks.

Some of you guys wouldn't know a good deal if it slapped ya in the face with its weiner.

You just confessed to buying a boat without even knowing which model it is. If anyone's getting slapped in the face with a schlong in this thread, I think it might be you :)
Turns out my intuition was correct. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Make sure you check the limber holes or you may be very disappointed if they were not glassed and the stringers are rotten. Stringer repairs cost more than you paid for the boat.
Also Crusaders are blue. The engines have non-original valve covers. I wonder what engines are installed. Crusader was an option that year.

I love that you know Pleasant! You can boat it from one end to the other in about 15 minutes! I have had many big boats out there. 40ft Silverton Express. 35 Wellcdaft Gran sport. A couple big Carvers. Even a Houseboat for a summer. The heat has gotten old. I'm married bow so the Party Cove is not really on my radar anymore. My Mom lives in Petoskey and my Father in Chesterfield. So as I look for a summer home I'll say on this old barge and it will stay in Michigan.

Desert Rat, by any chance is that boat headed to Lake Pleasant?

I ask because we have boated on that lake from one end to the other.

I totally agree.

Thanks. It will ❤️
