Wife wants to replace the original/stock galley faucet and the combo pull out head/shower faucet on our '97 DA300.

Seems a company called "ambassador" makes the original one(s)....if not just the one for the head. Since it's "marine grade"..and they appear to be the only one making it, it's a heck of crazy expensive for just an ugly little pull out faucet.

*So we need "marine grade"? What makes a faucet "marine grade"? I'm guessing just...slightly more corrosion resistant metal coating. Although...current ones don't look too brand new.

*Are there certain "gotchas" to look out for as far as plumbing size? Connection type? I'm an IT guy, not a plumber. If I go out and buy a new faucet....are there other components I'll need to connect it? Or just "spin off" old one, and "spin on" new ones like I'm replacing a faucet at home? Specific threads or diameters or....or....?

I replaced both with Dura-faucet. Small American company. Quality product, google them. I got mine thru Camping World. 1/2 the price thru RV than Boat sites. <$50 each, nice brush nickel look and not a cheap feeling, feels solid, we really like them. After i sent the warranty card, i got a nice reply from the husband and wife thanking me for supporting their small business. Nice touch.

The fittings are universal. Screw off/ on. Took me 10 mins change galley, longer in head, a little tighter. Actually, i find the ones at home are harder than the boat.

Home Depot. Plug and play. Since the original had a separate pull out I was left with a hole to fill. Wife ordered a soap dispenser from Amazon. I also replaced the corroded drain with one from Home Depot

Cabin faucets probably do not need to be marine grade. I used one off Amazon and have been very Happy. Just make sure the faucet is not taller than tha cabinet door otherwise it might be in the way.

The boats native plumbing.... 1/2" or 3/8"? Although I suppose doesn't matter, likely they come with adapters.

Ample choices for the galley sink, but I'm struggling to find one for the head...ours is the small head with the little Ambassador sink that has the pullout head to place up on a hook to make it a small shower head. Need a long one.
