My anchor stopped working. It doesn’t make a sound when I press the button. I assume that I need to replace the motor only? Is there any other trouble shooting that I should do first? Thanks

use a volt meter and check the voltage? Did you check the breaker?

It looks like there might be a breaker for your Windlass (pg 18, lower right, dashed outline) - maybe on a panel, starboard side, cabin bulkhead (pg 28 - bilge component board)

https://owners-resources.searayweb....Sundancer_240 Sundancer Owners Manual Pdf.pdf

Since you have the motor apart -- you can apply +12/GND and see if the motor at least spins. That will point you to a motor issue, or a boat wiring/electrical/solenoid/breaker issue.

I’ll bet it’s the breaker....find it and reset it. Mine is in the engine room on the bulkhead below my electrical panel.

Without a multimeter to check voltage, you're just guessing.

This is all that is down there. Doesn’t look like a circuit breaker but I could be wrong. I bought a voltage meter so should get it by tomorrow.

That's your batter charger. Perhaps the windlass was added afterwards? What wiring or components exist in the bow/anchor locker? Is there just two wires for the motor - or do you also have solenoids mounted somewhere in there? In either case, sounds like you will have to start at the switch at the helm, and follow the wires to see where its getting power from (or not getting power).

my 380 has a red breaker that is in the engine room. need to push real hard to reset.

As stated above, its all a guess without a volt meter. With no clicking when pushing the button, sounds like the relay isn't closing... def could be a power issue

Go to Sea Ray's web site and download the "Parts Manual" (but I found one here). It has far more detail than the owner's manual.
On page 24, it shows that the Main DC breaker panel is located near the cooler storage under the cockpit sink. On page 26, there is a picture of the panel showing that the bottom breaker is for your windlass. Check to see if it is tripped.

That being said, the parts manual mentions windlass in the wiring diagram section, but does not show a picture or mention it in the section showing the components on the bow. I think the dealer or previous owner added it to your boat. My 260 also has a big red push button breaker inline on the main DC power cable that runs up to the bow. That cable looks like a small battery cable. It is clearly larger than the other DC power cables in the bilge. Mine is mounted high up in the engine room. I can't see it from on deck with the engine hatch open. I need to get in the bilge and look high up on the port side above and forward of the DC distribution panel that the battery charger is mounted to. If you don't see it there, get up on the bow and open the anchor rode hatch. Stick your head in there and look up under where the windlass and switches are located. They may have mounted it under there.

Yes, it was aftermarket. They installed it too close to the edge of the anchor locker. I had to reach in my hand and cut off the blue sleeve over the motor. Then I had to forcefully yank the locker open. Just 2 wires running from motor.

If everything is working correctly, and the motor is bad, put a meter on the 2 wires and operate up or down. You should see +12v or -12v depending on the polarity.... that will eliminate some common issues

A windlass was not a factory option on the 240 DA in that year in the US and you mentioned you knew it was aftermarket. Definitely going to have to do some wire tracing and figure out where your breaker is located, as well as checking voltage at different points.
