So in the process of selling my 2000 310 Da. One lady asked me if it had bow thruster and another wanted to know where the built in coffee maker was. One person ask me what the difference between a yard trailer and a road trailer was. One person said the only way they would consider buying the fresh water boat was if both 5.7 motors were replaced because they had over a thousand hrs. On them.

Selling boats can be hard....

When my 270 AJ was being sold the broker had to deal with some real doozies.

Great. Now I found out my boat is Junk. Turned 1075 hrs on my 6.2’s this year

If they're legit questions because they just don't know anything I don't mind. The ones I get a kick out of are the wheelin' dealin' chiselers.

I had people literally hang up the phone when they heard it was in salt water.

"Is this a salt water boat?"
"Yes."
"Click".

As if boats melt.
The boat may not melt, but in my area your money certainly will. Most Great Lakes boaters do not want salt water boats.

I have the 506 up on boat trader and showed to a couple that are thinking of a boat to live aboard. They have never owned a boat before. I basically told them to go home and do a lot of homework before buying to live aboard.
They were clueless about everything. Nice folks but too early in their adventure to be looking at boats to buy.

I sold my last boat through a broker/dealer in 2009/2010. Tough market. I basically gave it away.

the guy that bought it wanted me to replace the entire canvas for him. He wanted better electronics. Then he wanted a trailer. Each time after coming to agreement on a deal. I finally called my broker and said I refuse to sell to this a-hole at any price. Tell him to F off and die. The broker called him and probably didn’t exactly quote me but the broker called me back and said he really wants to close the deal now. I waited 3 days to say yes. I didn’t need the money but I hate dealing with knobs like that. I should have stuck with it but the broker wanted the space on his lot. This was for a $15k boat!!! If I had it today they sell for just over $20k LOL.

The guy who bought my 33' 10 Meter claimed to be an experienced boater. Been boating all my life" he said. Claimed his last boat was a 32' something.

I was surprised when he chose not to take this boat home by water (a 1.5 day trip across the ditch) but instead paid to have it hauled here, loaded for transport and hauled again when it arrived at his destination on Florida's east coast.

AFTER he took possession, loaded it on the trailer and unloaded it at his marina, this was a phone call:

HOW DO YOU START THE BOAT ?

The following are actual texts from my phone:

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF USCG DOCUMENTATION?

WHAT IS A BLACK WATER TANK?

DOES THE GENERATOR NEED WATER TO COOL ?

CAN I KEEP THE AC ON WHEN SHES ON THE LIFT ?

and my all-time favorite:

WHERE ARE THE BUMPERS FOR THE GUARD RAILS UP FRONT?

And there's more to tell but, Yup, I think he told a lie about his alleged "experience"

BEST !

I just sold my boat, under 35 days from placing the ad to the deal being funded last week and the boat leaving my slip yesterday.

The last big boat I sold was my 33' in 2017 and I had plenty of dumb questions. That boat was under 100k and I noticed that the 100k number is a threshold many don't want to go over.... very few tire kickers on the 37' i just sold.

Congrats on the sale!

Here's another. From some dude named Jimmy out of state -- $5k?

I used to own a Stingray boat. One potential buyer came to look at it and asked me if it was a Corvette.

Half of the posters on this very site think gas engines will implode at exactly 1,001 hours on the clock!
Gas engines only implode when there are 1,001 hours on the impellers. Come to think of it, Diesel engines will implode at the same time….
