Dumbest question when selling your boat

Do you think that's an orange apple comparison?
I don't think it's a stretch for cruisers, especially. They aren't run wide open much with plenty of idle time. Before OD transmissions cars/trucks would easily run 3,000 rpm or more at highway speeds. They'd last 100,000+ miles.
Now if you're a go-fast guy with all kinds of running with the throttles buried, probably not.

You wanna know what's really dumb? I feel like I've told my kids more than once that "dumbest" is not a word. Upon further review it turns out it surely is in the dictionary.

This whole thing takes me back to a debate I lost not too long ago regarding the word "irregardless"...

We sold our 36DB through MM it sold in 24hrs I was asked to show the boat as the broker wasn’t familiar with the boat I spoke to the buyer for. 2 hrs sold the boat and handed MM a check for over $15K what the hell? I sold the 500DB without a broker and saved a lot of money. Learned my lesson.

There are ignorant questions and arrogant questions. I don't know what a "dumb" question is.....
Ignorant is "why did the owner paint the bottom black".
Arrogant is "will he take $75K?" on a listing of $175K.

Oh, one dumb question I got when selling my 93 400EC was 'Is it trailerable'?

Weeeeeell.....I guess???? Sure.

One of my dock neighbors had a 400ec. The previous owner had a custom built trailer for it! It came with the boat and he sold it for some good money.

Not sure about other states but in Ma when you become a lawyer it automatically comes with a RE brokers license.
According to this they've got to apply for it...

Pursuant to G.L. c. 112, §§ 87PP - 87DDD, the Board is permitted to issue a real estate broker license to
any Massachusetts-licensed attorneys holding a current law license in good standing with the Supreme
Judicial Court. All applicants for an Attorney-Broker license are exempt from the Board’s examination
requirements.

Many states used to do this and more. At one point, in some states, if you got a business degree many gave you a RE license if you requested one.

When I was selling my 270 AJ the broker had a buyer lined up for a showing, and then he got stuck in Connecticut with another client that was being a jerk. He asked if I could show the boat to the buyer that was already on the way from Massachusetts. He offered to cut his commission in half if that deal went through. The broker had already done a lot of work, he was a very decent guy, and I wanted to boat sold so I did it.

The key point is that the broker recognized he was asking me to do his job for him and adjusted the fees accordingly.

More infuriating than dumb probably. Sold a mid size jet boat several years ago as it was not being used much. In the add I mentioned I may consider the right smaller jet boat as a partial trade. My bad I guess.
After several email and phone calls with one donkey, he showed up with his mechanic and we spent a couple hours going over everything. Just before taking it out for the sea trial, I told them it was time to talk about the sale price. I got a stunned look from him and was told he didn't actually have any money. He only had a smaller jet boat I would love and a corvette I could easily sell for the balance.!
The boat sold 3 days later to the next person that looked at it for asking price. Just threw in some water toys for their grand kids.
