1999 400db - no drain plug

Where?

There is a garboard drain in the center of the transom at the lowest point in the hull......look for a bronze about a 3/8" or 1/2" pipe thread plug in a bronze fitting about 1-1/2" in diameter. It probably has bottom paint all over it and is just hard to see.

If there is no garboard drain, then carefully examine the hull for damage history where someone removed the drain during a previous repair.

If you mean under the engines, the area under the engines is required to be sealed now to keep the bilge pump from accidently pumping oily bilge water overboard .......there will be no drain from the closed ares directly under the engine/transmission.

Thanks Frank. I am referring to the transom. It has always struck me as odd that there is no drain plug. If it is under the bottom paint it is very well hidden. I suppose the previous owner could have had the drain plug removed but the surveyor did not note anything when the boat was purchased in 2004.

In any case, you are saying that ther should be a drain plug. I am concerned

No Garboard plug on its newer, big sister either.

2000 480 db. no drain plug.
silly thought, but could this be dependent on where boat was built, or gas vs. diesel?
our 330 da has a plug.

They only put those plugs on Sundancers with Cat engines because they leaked so much seawater when the cooling system failed... it was the only way to "drain" them.
