Hello,
I am looking at installing a Windless setup on my 260 Sundeck. Thinking of using Lewmar Horizontal Pro Fish 700 or Lewmar Pro Sport with 16 LB Anchor
I know it will take some work to do and I have seen pictures of boats with this but would like to chat with someone who has done this or can help to understand what it will take to do?
Best way to Reinforce Hatch Door?

Thanks For Your Support,
John

Reinforcement/securement of the door can done, but it will be relatively permanent. And, more likely, you'll end up making a whole new door and probably a pulpit. That small anchor roller isn't going to cut it the way it is - it will get ripped off in no time.

But, before you start redesigning things... check the specs for your proposed windlasses and see if the amount of straight line drop (for where you would mount it) you have will even be sufficient for the windlass to work. I have a feeling it's not going to be enough.

First, I would say go to the owners archives on searay.com, and look at your parts manual. Did your boat offer a factory option?

I just added a windlass to my 2015 270. It mounts under the hatch, in place of the ladder. That was the factory location. I had to cut a slot in the hatch cover for the bow roller.

$6500 out the door. It was a little pricey, but much cheaper than fiberglass repair on a boat without a good place to store an anchor. I probably could have bought parts and done it myself, but access on the boat sucks, and I'm old and fat.
Mine was a turn key job, my local mechanic did it for me. Wiring, relays, and breaker at the battery. Included polished mounting plate, chain, stainless anchor, and dash switch. He did all the fiberglass cutting and hatch modification as well.

Looks like a real nice install.

This bow mounted electric anchor has worked well for me this season. The remote buttons are under the dash. The mushroom lets me idle into the slip w/o worry that a windlass could cause damage. It pulls up weeds and mud so it is better to leave it a few feet in the water at slow speed to clean it before docking. I overhear across the water, "He just pushed a button."

That's a mushroom anchor. More of a mooring . How does it work and what kind of bottom is your area where you anchor

It's only temporary, while we're still in the 20' boat. Not like we had a tender and were going to leave the boat anchored overnight.
