210 Sundeck Performance

That Starbrite is a super glue. You don't want that. Even 4200 is more adhesive than is needed (but acceptable). You only need a sealant. Boat Life LifeSeal would be my choice.

I also have some of the Starbrite marine silicone on hand. Is it worth the costs to buy the Lifeseal over using what I have? I’m ok to buy, if needed. Thanks again

I ordered Smart Tabs today and am looking forward to trying them out. Regarding sealant for installing them, I have some Starbrite 8200 Polyurethane marine sealant. Is this stuff comparable to 4200 or do I need to buy some 4200 to seal the screw holes when installing them? Also, out of the reasons for low top end that you listed. I’m clear on all but maybe the engine power is down. I’m going to check compression, but I’m also thinking that older block may cause a reduction in horsepower. Anyway, thank you for your input. I may post compression numbers when I’m able to change the plugs, but it may be a couple of weeks.
Did you get the smart tabs installed? I have the same boat you do and looking at purchasing the smart tabs. Post a picture if you have them installed.

I'll try to remember to get one when I'm back up there this weekend. I did purchase and install them. I couldn't install them as far to the outside of the boat like the instructions recommend due to the swim ladder, but I can tell a difference with them on. It tracks great at low speeds as well. Nauticus recommended the low profile model SXL1057-70.

Curious... Why did you install the transom mount so close to the tab? I have NEVER seen one (nor installed one personally) so close. I don't think you'd be getting proper performance with them like that. Maybe you have the wrong (too short) arm?

Also... it may just be the picture, but they don't seem to be angled downward as far as they should be?

Thanks for the picture. I called the manufacturer and sent him a few pictures of my boat and he recommended the exact same setup that you have and in the same location. He said that it really didn't perform worse in that location than if it were installed farther outside. I have ordered the same set and will hopefully install them soon. My straps come down at a different angle than yours do, so I am going to try and install them to the outside as long as they don't intefere with the swim ladder.

I sent a picture of the back of my boat to Nauticus and they recommended the “Low Profile” tabs which are designed that way.

Honestly, the regular tabs would fit in that location, I believe, but they recommended the low profile tabs when I sent them a pic of my boat. I was nervous about the regular tabs fitting properly, but was thinking that I would be able to move them more to the outside of the boat, which I could not because of the ladder, but I didn’t know for sure until I installed them.

That’s where I wanted to install mine, but they stick out farther than the swim ladder, so I couldn’t. Lazydaze commented on the angle of mine. They are adjustable, so you can increase the angle, if desired. Mine are currently set on the middle setting, as recommended to start with, but my bunks stick out several inches past the back of my boat. I might try them at a steeper angle and see how it works, but I’ll have to cut my bunks shorter if I leave them that way.

Oh, OK. That explains it. I've never installed the low profile ones. Funny, though, looking at your transom it seems like you would have had plenty of room for regular ones? I'm surprised they recommended that. Oh well, it is what it is :)

You will definitely notice a difference in your hole shot by lowering them more. Then you could either cut the bunks or move the winch stand back a bit (as long as you don't lose too much tongue weight doing that).

Yes, it ends up that the regular ones would have fit. I really only thought the low profile ones might be better in the event that I could have installed them to the outside more which had less of an area to mount the arms, but I held them in place and the swim ladder hit them, so then I had to move them inside. In hindsight, I probably would have gotten the regular tabs, if had known I couldn’t install them more to the outside of the boat. They recommended the low profile ones though, so I went that route.

I received my nauticus tabs today. I see what you mean about the regular ones would have fit. The only place to mount them is exactly where you put them unless you notch them to clear the swim ladder. I am not sure how effective they will be if I were to trim or notch them. Even if I do that, the kids would potentially snag them when climbing up the ladder... I will probably go with the same place you put them. Are you pretty happy with the overall improvement where you have them? I mainly want to be able to pull a tube at a lower speed (~15mph) and keep the bow down. Logically, having the tabs lower down on the transom would help to get the boat up out of the water quicker.

Yes, I am happy with them. It tracks much better than before the tabs and it does make a difference with now rise. You might try a notch off the middle one to steepen the angle as LazyDaze suggested as well. I think I’m going to try that sometime too, but I can definitely tell a difference with them on.
