Pulling out in the Lake last night and heard grinding / clanking sounds in starboard transmission. Upon further inspection this morning with the guys who just put this S.O.B. back together, it was determined that the forward gear is going bad in the starboard transmission.:smt013:smt013:smt013

Any thoughts, comments, suggetions:huh:?

Yeah Scott, looks like I'll be breaking out the jet ski this weekend:smt089

So this repair will be covered by your insurance that repaired the props and shafts earlier right? If so, that is a relief!!

I saw earlier that you were having genny problems too! I was bummed to see that as it seems you are really catching some bad luck this season. Dont you have somebody in New Orleans you can see about fixing your mojo??:wow::thumbsup::grin:

The insurance company is going to pick up this bill as well. I just replaced the port alternator also this week.($165)

I think that's the problem in itself, living in this dump, New Orleans. Katrina, Rita, Oil spill, upcoming active hurricane season, broke ass boat. I mean WTF!?!?!? What's next.:smt013

And to top it off, It's hot as five fat asses in a volkswagen.:smt119

I hear ya! Nothing like a nice hot day and some humidity to make things extra steamy!:smt100:smt013:smt089

Come on out to the West Coast where the skys are blue and the air is dry! The only oil spills are when drunkass captains run into bridges.

Hope things get better soon. I hear ya about the heat, it was so hot today, I was sweating like Mike Tyson in a spelling bee.

Now THAT is a funny visual! Ludicrous L U D Y C H R I S

KK - Between you and Scott's haulout record (with my same boat!) - I'm not only feeling bad for you, but worrying about my luck as well!!

Sorry about the news.

Did you have a local electrical shop rebuild your alternator? Any problems getting them to use "marinized" parts?

I had a local guy just order me another one and when he gets some spare parts, he's gonna rebuild the old one so I can have a spare.

Week number 8 today and still out of the water:smt013. Waiting on new ZF to come in from Germany. It's supposed to be here between the 10th and the 15th.

Just left the marina and the gennie and the trannie are in the boat. I guess they'll splash her tomorrow sometime. Then hopefully I will be ready for the Patriot Poker Run this weekend:thumbsup:

Yall are not gonna believe this FRIGGIN BULLSH!T:smt013:smt013:smt013.

I pull my boat out of the lift thingie on Thursday afternoon and proceed to move her out in the open water of the Industrial canal to a slip so she can sit for 24 hours.

All went well with that.

The mechanic test drives my boat Friday morning and reports back all is well.

I go to the marina Friday afternoon to pick up my boat. I first went inside and paid my ten thousand dollar bill, and then got on my boat.

Backed out of the slip and turned to proceed down the channel. Put it in forward and what do I hear? The same friggin clanking / clunking noise coming from the starboard transmission. I opened the hatch and listened carefully, sure enough, same sound coming from a brand new transmission:smt013:smt013:smt013

What is the possibility of this happening . Or did I get the banana in the tail pipe:smt009

Also, my generator has been repaired, but still will not run. They are saying I have a fuel problem.

I swear I'm gonna jump, somebody please talk me in off the ledge.:smt089

KK -

There's another thread going on about transmission clunking and grinding. I believe it turned out to be an engine rough idle issue. Here it is:

http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33567&highlight=transmission

I hear ya Carter, but when the hatch is lifted, you can hear it coming straight from the transmission while in forward gear.

Man, I'm so friggin pissed right now, I seriously thinking about selling, real cheap, and getting something else.

DON'T DO IT!

It does sound like the rough running engine symptoms. In gear, low RPM, engine is missing, and makes the tranny make the noise, if I understand it correctly.

John, those are the exact symptoms, idle in forward gear, and you hear the noise. Goose it up a little, and the noise goes away. Reverse in idle and no noise is heard.

The only difference is that you can hear the sound coming directly from the trannie. The mechanic(s) and myself even got down in the bilge and heard it coming from the trannie.

What gives, anybody:huh:
