I have a 2000 Sundancer 240 with a 5.0L Mercruiser EFI engine. Last week the starboard intake hose cracked and was dumping sea water into the engine compartment. I've replaced the hose, no more leaking, but since then the engine won't crank over without using the advanced throttle and giving it a lot of gas.Once started, the boat dies immediately when I bring the throttle back to neutral.

Is it possible the sea water got into the fuel filter? Water got everywhere in the engine compartment, is there a connection or contact point that could have shorted. All the electrical seems to work fine, even when disconnected from shore power.

I'm a bit of a newb with these issues, any help is apprecitated, thanks!

maybe water got in the distributor cap.....

how much water?
plugs can tell you a lot...

There was a decent amount of water, but couldn't tell exactly how much. The leak was pouring water right onto the belt, so it was splattering everywhere.
