I wanted to be careful to not to compromise the galvanizing. Did a little research and decided to use Rust-Oleum Rust Disolver spray gel. Dropped anchor and chain on the dock, washed it down with fresh water and applied the spray gel. Only left it on for a few minutes and brushed the anchor with a scrub brush, then risnsed with fresh water. Same operation on the chain.
I cleaned a few years ago and it has maintained that original lookView attachment 136641 . I normally wash the anchor down with fresh water after coving out at the Lake of the Ozarks (small lake in Missouri).
I'm an old gear head and like everything stock. I was looking at a stainless anchor, but thought I would try cleaning it first to see if I could get it back to like new condition.
