As the snow melts, the daffodils start poking their leaves out of the ground and the days get longer, the thoughts of young men can turn to only one thing - BOATING!!!!
On the heels of the supremely successful trip to Atlantic City last July 4th, the Barnegat Bay people have been kicking around ideas for a 2010 trip. We were pretty consistent in our thinking that making this an annual Independence Day thing would not be the best idea (alternate plans, other things we'd like to do for July 4th), so we came up with a date of July 23-25. Some calls to Farley have been made and the date will work for them.
So, if anyone would like to sign on for the trip, please contact me via PM with the following info...
1. Boat name
2. Captain's name (first and last)
2. LOA
3. Beam
4. Power requirement (50a or 30a )
We have been able to secure the T-head on F dock this year. H-dock, where we held the "Table of the Gods" last year, wasn't going to be available; but F is probably better equipped for a dock party since the T is larger.
Our plan is to run things the same as last year - arrive Friday, meet, greet and eat like pigs on Friday eve/night with everyone contributing a food and a dessert. The rest of the weekend everyone's going to do their thing in AC. We'll hash out details of the menu later on in the year.
Once I get your info, I will forward it to Farley State Marina. They require you to call individually with credit card info to reserve the slip. They will NOT put you with the group if I haven't given them your info - their rule, not mine - but being in the group will entitle you to the "group discount," which is $3/foot (as opposed to $4/ft). There is also a fee for electric, something like $5-10/night and they may bang us a few buck for the tables - that came to about $5/boat last year.
Do not fear committment. They have a very liberal cancellation policy - you can cancel with no penalty 48 hour prior to the date. So please let me know early so I can get then an accurate number.
One other twist this year - there is apparently going to be a Bertram Group there the same weekend. We had 20 boats attend last year, and the Bertram group usually has around 30. We need to show those guys who's boss!
