Left Thursday morning in 3-5's with 21 other boats as part of the Bahamas Boating Fling summer trips with Chad from Asureyes as my crew; and another CSR member Ray with his 350 the White Pearl also in the flotilla. It was a little rough going over; and it took just over 3 hours, but once we got into port , the water turned turquoise, the party started. We stayed on board at the Big Game Resort & Marina; and spent each day exploring and enjoying all that beautiful weather and water. Made some great friends and got to learn how the boat handles in all types of seas.
Sunday came too soon. We had a radio check at 6:15am, saw an amazing sunrise, and headed out of Bimini around 7:15. The seas were 2' or less (mostly less), and we made it back cruising at 3650rpms, (using 35% less gas than the way there), and in 2 hours.
There were boats as small as 23', including a 24' sundeck, and the lead boat was a beautiful 46' Sundancer. A few of the boats had some mechanical issues either on the way over or while there; but everyone had an amazing time, even with gas at $6.00/gallon!
For anyone looking to make their first trip across the Gulfstream, I definitely recommend the Boating Flings.
