Been in Costa Rica

I have a lot of catching up to do here. I've been in Costa Rica for 5 days. We were invited by a very nice family that we met on Sea Rays at the beach. Unfortunately, they couldn't make it for a critical sickness in the family, but wanted us to continue on the trip with friends and co-workers from his business.

We stayed in his 7 bedroom, 9 bath villa overlooking the Pacific in Ocotal. There was a full staff: 2 cooks, 2 bartenders, 1 tour coordinator, and housekeepers. If you're not careful, they'll waste beer giving you a new one before the last one was done. We had massage artists at the villa every day (I don't do that, but my money paid for a couple).

We went on a river tour, a zip-line tour, and a rafting tour. Pics to follow - soon as I can get PB to work.

I've been there a few times. One of the things that I remember is that, at least on the Caribbean side, the rivers are full of piranha. We rafted down the Pacuare river and when we stopped for lunch the guides caught one after the other on hand lines.
They said that they were "the non-biting kind" though. That river looked a lot like the one you jumped in.

We have threatened to sell it all and move there a few times.

At best, we will probably buy a second home there for a "get away" place.....got to get another Sea Ray first though...priorities being as they are.:thumbsup:

I talked to a guy in the airport that looked about my age. I asked what he did to keep himself busy. He said, "surf."

Apparently, prices quadrupled there during the boom, and have since about halved.

Yeah, a friend wanted to think about retirement there then the prices went crazy! It's good to see they are balancing out, I just wish they didn't "correct" here. Costa Rica is still on our short list for vacation though. Veagas next for the big "five oh' party and Southeast Asia next year for a couple of weeks. A week down to Monterey on the boat in between should be fun, especially if I can pull together a couple of SF area Sea Rays to join us!
