Just got my invoice from the marina for the 2023 season... slip fee went up over 25%!

Went from $37.50 to $47.50 a foot for the short 5 month season. But may still be the best deal in the area, so I'm still in. I bet there will be some that bail out, giving up those precious slips.

I would be curious what it is at Smith Mountain and Lake Norman... I know there are some peeps on those lakes here.

@WV 320 Dancer How about the Kanawha?

I'm in a Safe Harbor and they went up all most 40%. They went from annual to seasonal and charge the same rate for summer that they did for the year. And as an added bonus, if you stay in the water, winter is now $50/ft.

I was told when I asked why the winter was so hi and they responded with the pool is really expensive to operate. Not going to put in print what my response was.

I just purchased a slip across the channel from them. Will see how that goes.

There is a good thread going on THT about this

Mine went from 150/ft to 160/ft, with no amenities other than "ice" and showers that were under renovation the entire season

Our slips are charged by the slip not the boat LOA. I have a 35-foot slip but starting this season my boats are 22 and 10 so it sorta works out.

Last year the guy next to me was paying almost 6 grand on a 35-foot slip to tie up just his 150 Montauk

b-b-b-b-but ..... big dock improvements coming over the winter

Just about every marina in my area has wait lists for 2023 for both in/out and slips. Certainly makes it easier for marina's to up their prices...

Ugh, I have not received my annual invoice yet. @JimG where are you located, you referenced SML. @SKybolt I considered the slip purchase route as well. I have a good friend who did this in Baltimore. He said he would not do it again. I know there are pros/cons to both.

I'm at Summersville Lake in central WV. Long waiting list for slips here also. A few years ago they went to a lottery for any slip that comes available. Cost you $20 (non-refundable) to enter, then a draw from the hat... and you only get to keep it for 5 years.

Was reading a thread the other day titled something like SH Will be the Downfall of Recreational Boating

Well our feed stayed the same, and we have a waiting list for peeps to get a slip. Our price per foot is almost half of what you’re paying.

We’re about $85/ft in Rochester, NY but it’s one of the nicer marinas around and quite new. We also pay by the slip not the LOA

power and water are on from mid-March to 10/31 but we’re allowed in the water as long as it’s not frozen

If they have there way, only bigger yacht owners will be allowed in their marina's. There slowly redoing the marina with new floating docks and primarily putting in 50/60/70 foot slips.

Transport and slip fees went up last year.
Storage fees went up this year.
Just found out my slip fees are going up again this year as the electrical at my slip has been upgraded to 50 amp.

Ugh....o_O

[EDIT]
Almost forgot - the insurance went up last year as well!

In Chicago you pay by the size of the stall. Each marina location has different pricing but at Burnham Harbor my 50’ stall is $133.75ft.
Everything else is Al a cart. And trust me they get you for everything they can. I can park the ding behind the boat for a modest $400 up charge…

Dayum! I paid 1800 last year. Y’all must REALLY love boats to pay those fees!
It is not love it is a sickness.
Ive had this slip for 15 years
