I am helping a friend replace his entire exhaust (manifolds and risers) on his 1999 Cruisers 3375 (454 MPI), Has anyone done any kind of cost analysis on the Merc ceramic coated exhaust components verses there standard "E" line? Is it worth the 40% premium? Does it last 40 - 50% longer? We are planing on only using genuine Merc parts, but just want to see if anyone has more experience with these different exhausts.

Are you in fresh or salt water? If in salt water, I would do it. If in fresh, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I put Stainless one piece headers from HiTech... They were about the same price of the ceramic, and should last more that 10 years in salt water... I also save over 200 lbs in weight, and gained horsepower... here's a pic...

You got my attention. I am looking at this swap with in the next year and need details on this company. Are they here in the US or Australia? Where did you buy?

Thanks in advance.

Boat will be used in salt water (LI Sound), to make this decision even harder, I spoke to Mercruiser directly and they said the the ceramic coating is only an exterior coating and not an inside coating... So based on this they even told me that there would be no longevity difference between the two types offered. The Merc dealer I have been buying all my Merc stuff from told me that they only stock the ceramic coated and he didn't even know there was another line, so he ordered one piece of the "E" coated (cheaper one) so we can examine. I figured with all the exhausts replaced, somebody would have run into this qwandry...

I bought mine directly form Hi-Tek in Austraila, for about half the price you were quoted... Send an e-mail to Allen at Hi-Tek if you are interested... Their website is: http://www.hitekmarine.com.au/

Has anyone tried PERFPROTECT.COM they sell all types of exhaust but the one that got my attention are the ones in aluminum with a ceramic coating they come with a 5 year warranty,

I would be very wary of using anything aluminum in salt water. If your boating in fresh water then have at it!!
