Comparing a couple of 90s boats

Slaro where is that slipped at
Looks nice

It's at Fox Chapel in Pittsburgh, super nice marina. For the price though it's on sort of a small section of the river that requires locking up or down to access other parts. For next year I'm hoping to snag an opening at the marina that's only a few blocks from my house where I keep my jet ski.

What do you mean locking up or down

New speakers and a new voltage gauge that is now accurate this weekend. I need to figure out how to clean my top deck with no easily accessible hose and decide if I want to get all new gauges to match, but had the boat out for her longest day so far to run down the river and get some burgers.

What size boat is it

Congrats on your wise choice of walking away from the other one..

Your inop speedo is probably caused by the speed / pitot pickup in the leading edge of the lower unit being plugged up with some mud or some other snot. NOTE: Have seen them plugged with wood after owner made contact with some wood floating in the water.

Take a drill bit the size of the pickup hole and BY HAND, screw the bit in till it clears the crap out. Too many use a drill motor and wind up drilling into the aluminum of the lower. Disconnect the pitot hose from the lower and flush out with pressurized water or air, then reconnect and see if speedo works again by applying LOW PRESSURE air or water to the pickup.

Congrats on picking the right one, the one I suggested ;)

Pittsburgh is a cool place to boat, did it some years back.

Yeah I 100% meant to take a swing at fixing the speedo while I had the boat out of the water it just didn't happen, in the meantime I just run a handheld Garmin mounted to the dash that shows speed.

Boating in Pittsburgh has definitely been fun and I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I'm up in Mackinaw City for a few weeks though and the big water feels very different.

While you are still checking things out, you ought to sound the transom to check for dry rot. Also run a moisture meter over the transom after it has been wet slipped for a while to check on water intrusion. Two cosmetic issues could be easily fixed, the damaged rub rail on the starboard side, and new stripes on the water line. Both, are inexpensive to repair and would enhance the appearance after the hull shine is restored.

I very much agree, I wanted to get the rest of this season out of it before tackling some of the cosmetics this winter. The transom was solid and was fairly uniform moisture wise around 14%. You're right I should check it again now that she has been in the water a lot longer. I'm currently talking with a fiberglass shop about fixing some small chips, a really in depth sand, buff, polish and new pin stripes for next year. If I can keep it around $4k I'll have someone do it professionally or I'll have to find somewhere indoors I can work on it an tackle those myself.

Wrapped up northern Michigan spending the night over on Mackinac island. The carb is getting very temperamental when starting and it looks like it probably hasn't been rebuilt ever. Adding that to my list of projects for this winter (pulling from the water mid October :( ) The boat is definitely a little small for the great lakes, but she handled pretty well with a newb at the helm.

And just like that my first season is over. Shrink wrap next week engine is full of anti-freeze and I have a list of projects for this winter.

That's a wrap on the season. Time to start on the winter projects I can do while she's shrink wrapped.

Getting very excited for the season. I've got about 1.5 months before she's in the water.

Completed:
-I ponied up and paid a pro to refresh the hull and she shines!
-Lenco trim tabs
-New Taco marine rub rail

Wrapping up:
-install rebuilt carb + new fuel pump
-replace all of the rubber cooling hoses
-new zincs
