Ok everybody. Here's one for you. Was on the boat and someone left a soaking wet never washed dark blue towel hanging on side of boat. The towel was laying on the vinyl for an extended period of time and some of the color or dye bled out and somehow permeated the vinyl on the recently redone interior. The only thing that is keeping me sane right now is I know one of you are going to have an idea on how to get it out. I've tried lightly rubbing it with a magic eraser, and padded and lightly rubbed it with both alcohol and bleach. Think the bleach may have lightened it a little bit it still looks like crap.

If anyone has any ideas, please, I'd love to hear them.

Thank you

Had the same thing happen with new Marinco shore power cords. Let them sit on the vinyl for a week and then I had a yellow circle on the vinyl. Nothing would get rid of the yellow. The sun did and now it is gone.

This stuff came highly recommended some time ago. I don't even remember what I used it on so can't vouch for its effectiveness.

Magic erasers only as last ditch "I'm outta options and will replace it soon anyway" ........but first, as suggested, direct sunlight for several hours.......if no luck, 50% bleach soaked white cotton rag laying on stain for awhile.

Aaaahhhhhh….. you mean several days?

Sun for maybe several days....as for the the bleach rag trick (try to keep it off stitching) 30 minutes or so...keep checking it.

Try to avoid Magic Erasers. There's nothing magic about them - they're essentially sand paper.

Let it out in the sun anytime you're on the boat.

or

A 5:1 water:bleach is fine to use on the VINYL - avoid the stitching if you can. Soak a WHITE rag with the solution and let it sit on the stain for about 5 to 10 (longer is fine - just not hours and hours) minutes and then rinse with water.

I had white seats in a 1978 Torino and 3 bil's and I went to the Indy 500. The year it down poured. Anyway we were all wet on the trip back and one bil had a multicolored shirt that ended up staining the backseat. I ended up having it redyed. That repair lasted til I got rid of it the next year.

My dad had a 70 Olds Cutlass with white vinyl interior. After a Sunday at a pool, we sat on beach towels which bled onto seats.
I think it was the most pissed i ever seen my dad, and lord knows I gave him a lot of reasons to be pissed.
As i recall, it just faded away on its own after a while.
Do NOT use bleach, magic eraser, they will eat the stitching.

A few years back I purchased a red universal boat cover. It rained and pooled. The pooling portion sat on the seats and stained the tops of them pink.

As others said, a good vinyl cleaner and then let it sit in the sun. The color didn’t come out overnight. It probably took all season for it not to be noticed again.
