I’m going to be installing a 4’ swim platform extension on our 2009 sundancer 270. We’ve had the boat for a year and noticed it’s a very well designed boat. So I’m thinking there’s a reason the existing platform is so small. Hoping we won’t run into any problems. Anyone have any intel on this?

I suggest you also add supports when you do it, especially if you'll have a gaggle of kids playing back there from time to time. Cheap insurance...

How high off the water will it be? Will it 'drag' when coming up on plane? I'd definitely make sure there is good venting on the surface.

I wont be popular with this observation, but my dock neighbor had a 29 ft maxim he added an extended platform on. It definitely threw off the balance of the boat and he ended up adding ballast to the bow just to get it to ride somewhat level. I remember when he had a bunch of girls at the dock standing on the platform, it was under water.

Hopefully others who have the same boat as yours will chime in.

I would not add an extension but replace the entire thing. It will be less weight and also be mounted properly. Make sure the top of the platform is vented to allow water through it or you will damage both the new platform and your boat. Also keep in mind you might have to raise the platform a few inches to help with drag.

I think the OP has the integrated swim platform. Anything he adds will be "extended" from the integrated rig...
